Bit confused, not had much help from family & midwife isn't answering phone. Can anyone help??

Is it possible to feel baby when they drop? Last night i was lying on the settee when i felt this huge pressure in my pelvis accompanied with a sharp shooting pain going up from lady bits to just above my hips. When i stood up i swear i felt baby drop down.
Since this happened i am peeing every 10-15 mins and he not kicking my ribs anymore, more above my bellybutton and i've had sharp pains/twinges every now and again in that area..
Before this happened the weeks before i was having horrible braxton hicks, achy hips and periodlike pains on one side.

Any advice would be helpful, this is my first baby and im a little anxious

Thanks :)

(im 34 weeks pregnant)

I think my baby has dropped because the kicks and stuff are no longer in my ribs and I know that he's head down because I can feel the pressure on my pubic bone and cervix sometimes. And I know what you mean on the hip pains. Like, for three nights in a row last week, I had this really bad burning pains in my hips when I was laying down and now I don't and when my baby moves his little hands sometimes, I can feel it on my hips. Goodluck with your baby though. (:

My baby dropped at 36 weeks and he was born at 38 weeks. I had period like pains about three days before he was born. The shooting like pains and the pressure on my hips and pelvis I felt up to two weeks before birth. Thats also when the stretch marks appeared!! You may also find you suddenly suffer a more severe case of incontinence. All signs that baby has dropped. Usuaaly takes about a week or two after that before baby comes. Congrats and good luck!!!

Thanks for the responses ladies, just an update..
Ended up in hosp last night with period like pains and tightenings. After my examination i have been told im in early labour but as my waters haven't broken there is nothing they can do as of yet as im not quite 35 weeks.
During the examination i was told to cough repeatedly and didnt really understand why, later my auntie explained this could be because as my waters were bulging they wanted to see if they would pop on there own. Has anyone else been told this??
Well i was sent home and told to go back when my waters broke but wasn't given an indication when this may be. So atm its just a waiting game. So frustrated and tierd its been 24 hours since the pains started and they have settled but are still present.
Got an appt on monday so hopefully my dr can tell me whats going on. Will keep you all posted and good luck to all of you :)

I didn't feel it with my first two, but I could see a difference in the shape of my belly. I'm a perfectly round belly, when they drop I become more like an egg..lol

With each of my prior 4 pregnancies I felt the baby drop. But I thought it was normal. A for this one...it hasn't dropped yet.

I didn't actually feel my baby drop, I did feel her turn into the head down position though. This was at 33 weeks the next day I woke up with horrible gallbladder pain from the baby pushing and kicking against my gallbladder which lasted 10 days and suddenly disappeared. The next doc appointment after that the doc told me the baby had dropped. So I think when the gallbladder pain had quit was when the baby dropped, thank goodness because that was the worst 10 days of my pregnancy and I was dreading the thought of 7 weeks of that!

Wow...It's funny you posted this because I was wondering the same thing. It started last Wednesday, I am 35 weeks now, and I woke up in the middle of the night with really bad pains in my hips. The next morning I got up and sure enough, my belly dropped. It's been a week since this happened and today I woke up, crampy, with a hard belly. I went to the bathroom and I think that I lost my Mucus Plug...I don't go see my doc until Thursday but I may take a trip up to the hospital...Just to be safe...
Good luck & congrats...This is my second baby, so I am nervous, but not as bad as I was with my first:)

Talk to your doctor, my daughter dropped very low early and they have had me on strict bed resst for the and high blood pressure to keep her from coming to soon and causing any problems. The pain sounds like your baby did but i would go get checked out to make sure your not in preterm.

I wouild call the doc. I had simular symptoms when I went into preterm labor. Better to get checked out and be on the safe side.
Take care and good luck ;)
