Edeline, I would go and speak to your midwife or doctor about your concerns, they should be able to help you work through them and they should be able to help you work out approximately how far along you are.

You probably will need an ultrasound so they can see the size of baby but you don't have to see the baby, they should be able to do one without you seeing the screen. However, personally I always find that when I see my baby on the screen it makes me less concerned about losing them because they are ok and healthy and I can see their heart beating, but I can understand your fears.

I am currently 27 weeks pregnant with my second child, my son is 17 months old (he'll be 20 months when the baby is born) and have really bad back and hip pain as well - I have been diagnosed with Symphis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD) sometimes refered to as Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP), I have physio for it and attend a weekly hydro therapy group which really helps. Again I would talk to your midwife/ doctor about the typ of pain your suffering to see if it is just pregnancy aches or something like SPD or Sciatica where you can have treatment to help ease the symptoms.

So, your fear of miscarriage is preventing you from receiving any kind of prenatal care?!

Ultrasounds determine whether the fetus is growing at a normal rate, record fetal heartbeat or breathing movements, see whether you might be carrying more than one fetus, and identify a variety of abnormalities that might affect the remainder of the pregnancy or delivery. Prenatal care and ultrasounds save lives of both mothers and their unborn babies all the time. So, at this point, you should stop letting your fear take over and focus on your health and the health of your unborn.

Here's an article about the importance of prenatal care, if you need more information: http://kidshealth.org/parent/pregnancy_c...
