My doctor get me paper work to get down sydrome testing done. I never got it done with my little girl so was thrown off. My friend had to ask to get it she is not from this area, but I guess there is a lot of disabilities in my town. I am scared my about getting it done and find out something could be wrong, not sure what my boyfriend would want if we out something was wrong. Is it better to just get it and know or don't get it and don't think about it and just not know?

If you are over 35 then it can be recommended, seeing as you would be considered "high risk" at this point. Having a more in-depth conversation with your dr about your potential risks, why they recommended you have the tests, and what are the up and down sides to having the testing done, would be a good idea. But ultimately the question weather to get the testing done is really up to you. Also having a conversation with your partner about what you would both want if the testing showed anything but "normal" fetal development. Then you can go forward knowing what to expect either way. And worrying about it won't change a thing. So spare yourself that part and just have open and honest discussions with your dr and partner. Decide what you want to do after you have all the facts and everything will then be as it's meant to be.
