Do you want to know the gender of your baby at the ultrasound? Why or why not?

yes find out the gender because it is hard to find a lot of weather appropriate baby clothes as they change with the season rather than the actual weather. With my first child I thought he would be in the 0-3 months and bought only a few newborn clothing. I had him at the end of November and all the winter clothes were already on sale and they were picked over. It was hard to find any winter clothing for a newborn because in general stores don't carry a lot of them and once they go on sale people snatch them up fast.

I've had a little more time to think on it, and I see it in this way.
Picture reading a really good book. You have two choices, one persevere and read it through with out peeking at the ending or go ahead and peek.
If you peek at the ending you could either end up feeling relaxed, able to read the rest of the book knowing that your favorite character will come out safe and happy, or you can come out feeling as if now that you know the ending the journey has lost all its luster and you never finish the book.

When it comes to books I can go either way, be able to read more comfortably, or give up and never finish.
When it comes to finding out the gender, I'm afraid much of the luster of the journey will be lost for me!
This won't be the case for everyone, but I believe it would for me.

yes I have to know so I can get what I need. I am a planner and must know details ahead of time. no last minute stuff. I am currently waiting for my ultrasound appointment to find out the sex. everyone is hoping for a boy. I dont care just want i tto be over with.

I didn't find out with my first, and to me it was the most amazing thing holding my baby for the first time, and not knowing if she was a boy or a girl (the cord was between her legs and i couldnt see). For the first minute of her life, she was simply 'my child' and that was all that mattered =) it was an amazing moment! Plus it was cool that my partner could be the one to announce she was a girl. I am planning number two now and will be having another surprise

No, I have a ton of unisex newborn stuff plus a couple of outfits for either sex for church.
We like surprises, and decided that we weren't going to find out the sex of our babies before we concieved our first.
We plan on having 5 kids, we have our 1st a boy Gabriel who is three. And I am 6 months along with our second, we are both pretty certain this on is a boy as well, which we hope for as our son needs a brother to wrestle with in a year or so. But we will be equally glad for a girl for him to learn to protect and love, and learn to be a little gentleman too.

i can't wait to find out, but i'm sure it's a boy. i knew with my first before i even had an ultrasound that he was a boy, and i ave that same sureness this time :) i like it for picking a name...my son was referred to by his name long before birth, and i want that for this one rather than just 'baby' or 'it' LOL

I LOVE the surprise!! I already know I am having a baby so is must be a boy or a girl. It is fun to hear everyones opinions as to why you must be having a boy or a girl. Also it gives me something extra to work for during labour the excitement of finally finding out the gender of my baby gives me that little extra.

It is a definitely a preference and it seems more and more people are choosing the wanting to know. I have had several ultrasounds for all three of my pregnancies and have always had to fight the temptation (very hard). At times I feel it would be nice to know so I could let my boys know - my oldest (3 1/2) tells everyone he is having a baby sister even when I tell him brother or sister (he won't hear of it to him it is a baby sister). Maybe he knows something I don't :)

With my son I KNEW he was a boy before I even had the ultrasound. When I found out during the ultrasound I wasn't surprised and I probably wouldn't have been if I would have waited til birth. Now, if he would have been a girl....I would have been completely shocked.

I didn't find out with my first, and although it was fun, I regretted not being able to buy all the cutesy girly things I could have gotten if I knew. I'm now on my 3rd boy and it is nice to know that I can shop for clothes at clearance prices for the sizes he'll ware next year.

no having it as a surprise is soo much fun! With my 1st i was sooo sure i was having a boy and so when it was a girl i was shocked but i was happy of course. im now pregnant with my 2nd and its going to be a surprise again i just loved not knowing plus as for getting ready for baby the only thing i could really get ready if i new would be getting out the clothes because the baby is using the same babys room as the first and stuff which is all neutral colors

It helps me pick out baby names. If they can't tell on the ultrasound it won't be a big deal, but being able to see if it's a boy and girl and not looking...I couldn't! I have to read a book as fast as I can to get to the end. The most suspense I like is when the baby will get here. Our nursery is yellow, so colors don't matter. We knew it was THE nursery for however many kids we had and we didn't want to repaint.

Nope!! both babies were/are a surprise... we had our first September 2008 and it was a boy.. and I'm due in February with number 2 and have no idea! For us we just figured its one of the last GOOD surprises in life...

Regardless the birth is an emotional experience, but my husband and I think it added to everything so much more. Plus it's fun to hear everyone's guesses and why they think you are having one or the other :)

I can understand the whole "preparation" thing... but really.. all you are talking about is nursery color and what color stuff to buy.... pink or blue... flowers and hearts or cars and puppies. Thats no big deal.. the baby won't even realize what color it's room is anyways lol

We got everything we needed and more.. it was just neutral colors (yellow, green, orange, white)
