Hi ladies, my name is Lwazi and I am 27 weeks preggie and my baby boy is due on August 23, I have had a toughish pregnancy with MS lasting well over 3 months, a tear in my cervix, too much water and now glucose levels at 179 instead of the normal 130. And all of those meant goping to an obgyn and a martenal specialist....money money money. I would like to embark on a diet to help me get my sugar levels at the right place, any suggestion would be great. Thanks...

I know this post is a few weeks old, but I am 30 weeks pregnant with my first and I was just diagnosed in May with Gestational Diabetes. My blood sugar isnt high unless I eat or drink something with alot of carbohydrates. I at first had to check my glucose levels 6 times a day. Fasting in the morning before breakfast, 2 hours after breakfast, before lunch, 2 hours after lunch, before dinner and 2 hours after dinner. They put me on a diet and I lost 8lbs in one week. Its counting carbohydrates not calories though like most think. Breakfast you can only have 30 carbs totalling...or around there at least just try not to go over. 2 or 3 hours later you can have a snack of 30 carbs only. Then wait another 2 or 3 hours or sometime after checking your levels and you can have lunch at 60 carbs. 2-3 hours later snack at 30 carbs. And 2 -3 hours later dinner at 75 carbs. And a night snack at 30 carbs. This seriously has done wonders. But I'll be honest...I was used to eating what I craved...and I totally cut all that out...Its killing me. But this diet works and I am so blessed my diabetic counselor put me on it. If I can be pregnant and lose 8lbs the healthy way...thats awesome. So try it. It may not work for you. The doctor said that I might not have seen a change for a few weeks with my levels and my weight because of trying to get used to the change in diet while being pregnant. But my levels are actually low and I lost the 8lbs. So thats great. If you decide to try it let me know how it works out. :)
