I have extreme aniexty and usually take xanax for it, but when i found out i was pregnant at 8 weeks or so I weaned myself off the medication and in 3 weeks i was almost 12 weeks and i was completely done with the medication. I have since read the dangers it can cause to my unborn child and i don't know if i have caused harm to my baby boy. My aniexty is pretty bad so i don't know if im worring extra do to this, but i didn't have medical insurance at the beginning so I hadnt gone to the OB, but i have since aquired insurance and had my first OB appointment at 16 weeks and a 20 week scan now and they didn't really say too much during my U/S appointment and i don't go back to the OB till 8/27(different offices) and i wasn't sure if anyone has had a simular experience and what their outcome was. I try very hard not to stress as its not good for me or him, but it is hard and even harder thinking something might be wrong with him cause i wasn't supposed to be able to get pregnant without professional help but it happened naturally and i'm happy and scared at the same time. I was hoping that getting other mothers opinions and experiences might help ease my mind.

When I was pregnant with my first ( he's now 3) I had horrible panic attacks at work to the point of throwing up. My OB actually perscribed me to Xanax, but I read the side effect and decided not to take it,I just quit my job instead. I did have a friend that was perscribed Xanax before she got pregnant and her OB said it would be fine for her to continue to take it & her baby is healthy and fine. I would just bring up your concerns with your dr the next time you go in.

Congrats on your baby! Pregnancy can be rough, especially the emotional worry that we mothers have for our unborn children..

I think to ease your worry, maybe you should read up on the effects of Xanax in pregnant women..most medications are not good for pregnant women, but at least you knowing what could be out there...it might help you determine if you want certain tests...I think you are a great mom, just becaus you care..

I read lots, I'm on youtube all the time...Right now I am looking into Aspartame... I bought bubble gum that had it in it and I didn't know what it was, found out the artificial aspartame our bodies cannot digest it, and for pregnant women, it's a no no...still reading tho..But I do know that it causes birth defects..

Be at peace..

I took Klonipin during my first pregnant with my son who is now 10 months old, and Klonipin in another Benzo right up there with Xanax. I am also 18 weeks pregnant and have been taking it on & off during this pregnancy. I suffer from a lot of anxiety and all doctors are different some look to see which outweighs which and if it will benefit you and then my last appointment the doctor refuses to prescribe it to me anymore since it is a Class D medication.

There really is not much you can do and you have already taken it, and it's great that you have stopped, however try not to worry too much about it, one of my doctor's had told me that the medicine I was taking that there were lot's of women who take it and honestly, I'm sure the same goes with the Xanax as well. Pregnancy is so hard, esp. when emotional/mental illness are thrown into the mix, trust me I understand. I do worry too that something may be wrong, but sometimes I feel as if it's too late.

Best of luck to you & congrats on your baby. !! :)
