I am 23, just graduated college and 13 weeks pregant. I am in a relationship with the baby's father, and now living with him at his mom's house in Dallas. I am job-searching and he has a decent job, but since the pregnancy was unplanned, we are struggling a bit to save money for the baby (hence living with his mom). The only person that knows about my pregnancy on my side of the family is my mom. We will be driving down to San Antonio about 5 hours away from Dallas, to spend Christmas with my family.

They are very traditional, and now that I'm so close to seeing them, I am getting very anxious and nervous to tell them. I am not as skinny as the last time they saw me although not sure that one could consider me "showing." My mom thinks I should tell the family during Christmas, but I have no idea how I should do it. I am so scared to see their reactions and to be judged by them.. any suggestions, advice, and/or encouraging words would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

Have your mom make the announcement..it shows support. Once everyone knows, people get more concerned with the baby and the family, more so than they way they all found out.

Expect some to be dissappointed, some to be happy, but be sure you are secure in how you feel about the pregnancy...no matter what family says...I know family stress about these things can be pretty tough.

And if you are not ready to tell the whole family, then don't. You can wait till you are further along or until you feel more secure.

I didn't tell my extended family about my current pregnancy. I really don't care for them or their opinions very much so I figured, they will know when they do. They are not in my daily life so what does it matter.
