Yeaaa dont do that! lol. And youre right, dont rush it. They had to induce me because I was late. A tip- make a playlist on your ipod/mp3 for relaxing music to listen to while in labor. it helped me sooo much! i had sade, isley brothers and some others =)

Labor for me felt like sharp pains in the crack of my ass, it can't get no plainer than that. that is just being straight up. And when the baby is coming down and out it will feel like the biggest turd you ever released.

get the epidural! i didn't have enough time with my first! it was horrible pain without it!!

Simply put, if you have ever experienced serious chronic constipation, it feels like that. And lots of cramps and tightening around the stomach. And the actual birthing felt more like (excuse me) the biggest poop of my life. Except it was a baby. Lol.

starts with cramps, to make it easier just be determined that you are going to do it and you get a great present at the end. I went natural and attitude has a lot to do with it. I was 12 hours from 1st contraction I felt till delivery and the 1st 5 hours just felt like bad cramps and it gets more intense. Make sure you rest in between

Well I had got 3 types of meds including the epidural. But I still felt all the pain, because I got em during the first cm, and the medication wore off by the time is was to push. so I felt pretty much about all of it, and was even passing out with every push.. But everyone is different and can take more pain then others

I am only 22 weeks pregnant with my first baby and am totally freaking out. I dont know what i am going to do when the time comes haha..it sounds so scary. I want to get the eipdural but people say you can have alot of problems afterwards! I am so excited for November 13th but so scared at the same time! All i'm worried about is how much the pushing and the baby actually coming out is going to hurt..how different is it with the epi? do you feel much?

Mine felt like a horrible case of diarhea. I blamed it on the polish dog I ate for lunch until about 1:00 am when I realized I was sitting on the toilet every twenty minutes. I had the epidural for my 1st delivery & went natural with my daughter. I felt no pain with the epidural but since I was numb I couldn't feel when to push. I ended up pushing for 3 hours & I can't bare to scare you with the details of what that does to things down there. The second time around I skipped the epi and I pushed 3 or 4 times. However the pain was intense. I kept telling myself "if my mother did this (she isn't physically strong) so can I". You soon forget about the pain.

I'm scared. Not a mom yet but will soon be. Very scared. Everyone describes it as excruciating pain.

Just go with the flow you cant know how labour will go untill your in it. As a midwife I see birth daily some women cope with the pain other dont. The best advice I can give. Know what pain relief is available in your area. If you need it then use it. Babies never come out with a mark saying my mother used pain relief to birth me. So unless you tell anyone noone will know.

Congrats Kierstin! :)
Make sure you take care of the stitches, if you get an infection it'll be more painful.

It is different for every one. Mine was a lot easier then everyone led me to believe. You hear so many horror stories, but most labors turn out to be normal, 8-12 hours. Now don't panic, that isn't 8-12 hours of hard labor, but about 1/2 to 2/3 of that time is labor you can talk, function, and even work around the house through. You'll be in pain, don't doubt that, but you can get through it. And there will be breaks, there is time between each contraction, to rest, to gather strength.
My labor went really fast. 7 hours 40 minutes, from the very first contraction to my holding my son 1 second after his birth. But only about 4 hours of that was hard labor. I was exhausted because I had only had two hours sleep in almost 20, when I went into labor. which helped because I literally fell asleep between each contraction, even when there was only 30-45 seconds between each.
Any way, most labors go simple and easy, if you relax don't panic, move if you feel like moving, sit, squat, get in the water, what ever you need what ever makes you feel comfortable. It will be the hardest and most rewarding time of your life. Congrates

medicated labor blocks that connection between mom and baby. Induction is said to make it more difficult for the baby and mom. Trust your body, relax, be confident, and you and your baby will know exactly what to do.

i like to describe it as a blood pressure cuff. only its around your belly. as you dilate that harder it squeezes. i only dilated 4 cm so it was not that bad...til i had a c section. i had worse cramps when i had to poop when i had the flu while pregnant. and trust me i thought i was going into labor before i found out i had the flu. im glad i had a c section instead of vaginal delivery, but thats just my preference, i cant think of having anything larger than a penis coming out of it! yickes! haha and... c sections are NOT as bad as people portray them to be. they suck if your induced first then have one but if you just have one which i will be having another in march then its not so bad. just like regular surgery. GOOD LUCK! all is worth it in the end no matter how much pain, cause the baby is SO CUTE and cuddly! :)

When I was expecting, I always asked my mom how does it feel, or how will I know. She told me that I would just know. And I wondered how will I know mom! But I did, when I started having contractions, it is a different feeling than any other. Good Luck!

Thank you for posting the question and thank you for all of the answers. I am at 37 weeks with my first, a boy, and I have been asking my friends who have had children and all they say is that you will know when it happens. Well thanks that is so helpful to someone that has never done this. So thank you all, this has been really helpful to me too!!

Hey Ladies,
Today is the day I am due...Ugh stil nothing I have a few cramps here and there. I am definetly getting an epidural...
I am sooo anxuous about i. Everyone tells me to drink Castor Oil but I am scared to do that. I don't think that will be such a smart idea. As much as I want this to be over. I do not want to rush my son's biirth because I will regret not trying to embrace his birth :-)

the pain all depends on if your water breaks. that's with me. with my son (1st) my water didn't break on it's own. I was in labor for 12 hours. laughing and having a good time. it wasn't all that bad. but then at about 7 cm they broke my water. and that's when it got more painful. but like 10 min later i was pushing and in the end it was worth it. with my second my daughter (i had 4 weeks ago) they induced me. pitosin sucks booty lol. It got really unbearable and I almost got the epidural but my mom and husband said no. and I'm really glad I didn't get it. instead I got a relaxation medicine that took the edge off and I stood the pain they broke my water an hour after they gave me the pitosin. 2 pushes and she was out and I had absolutely no pain after. so my opinion epidural is not worth it. and labor isn't that bad.. for me at least. good luck. and in the end if you don't get the epidural. you will feel proud of yourself. after all it is the way god made us we women are meant to be strong and stand child birth : )

well at first it just feels like cramps then it gets a bit painful like you are constipated and can't take a poo throw in a burning feeling and your stomach tightening up , feelings of hot and cold that come and go that is the best I can think to describe it
