Yep I agree with Bridget , babies make strange pains alright! It is your cross to bear and your badge of mother hood I guess! this is my first lil one im 32 weeks and he has me crying sometimes. i felt that pain too and i think its just your top abdominal muscles stretching more than they want to. itll get worse dont worry, lol im sorry just kidding, but it will get worse and then your lil one will be here yay!

Well I do have gallstones but my gallstone dr said that was not causing my pain. I tried pain meds and nothing. I told my dr but they havent dont anything yet. Someone told me my baby might be on a nerve or something, but the pain is so werid. When i sneeze sitting up omg does the pain feels 10x as worse like my stomach is on fire

Have you tried taking antacids by chance ? I called complaining of the same pain and boy did it feel like I had been stabbed with a knife .
My dr gave me an RX for acid medicine and it went away . I was also told to do a bland diet [yeah right, I am preg and eat what ever I can stomach ] Also drink more water !

Is it internal pain or more like between ribs? You can actually over pull the connective tissue between ribs, and it hurts. You move and have sharp pains. Baby moves or kicks and you have sharp pains. It could just be a pinched nerve, but can't really do anything for this until the baby is out. My first dislocated a rib and the second had my hips making these crazy crunchy, grinding sounds. I blame relaxin for all of it.

Keep talking to your doctor, keep track of when it hurts and rate on a scale, try to describe the where as best you can (it hurts to take a deep breath in my ribs or deeper pain like gas or stomach ache), let him know what helps you not hurt. If you can't pin it on something, talk about options for the end of your pregnancy. Like inducing rather than allowing to go way past your due date. Not a bad idea if the pain just keeps getting worse. Also, you should ask about pain management. Having an ultrasound of the afflicted area could pinpoint something to look more closely at or at least rule out things.

Good luck.

is it possible the baby is kicking your ribs? i had that pain too with both my children and my doctors said it was the baby kicking my rib cage. im 14 weeks pregnant again,so im not that far along yet to see if it happens again.

Babies can cause a lot of strange pains, all 3 of mine did. If not the baby, it sounds like it could be your gallbladder. I would ask the doctor to order an ultrasound to check it (it won't hurt the baby). Also, the hormones from pregnancy can cause things to go wrong in your body. I got kidney stones with 2 of my pregnancies & hormones caused my hip to pop out of socket in my last pregnancy. My cousin's pregnancy caused her to have to have surgery on her thyroid gland.
