I am a first time mom as well, and am starting my 30th week tomorrow. How far along are you?
I have been pretty damn lucky so far. I had morning sickness for about a week and a half (which was just a bit of nausea), at which I was quick to figure out that it went away when I had food in my stomach.
Since I found out I was pregnant I have been needing to go to the Dr.s every 4 weeks. They upped the appointments recently. Every appointment they take my blood pressure, check my weight, and listen for baby's heart beat. At 26 weeks they started to measure my belly bump.
At about 18 weeks I started feeling baby kick. He has been kicking up a storm since.
At 20 weeks I got to see an ultrasound of him, and figure out the sex.
Myself and baby are pretty darn healthy, and it is going along smoothly.
I would suggest you download the ap "What to expect" if you have a smart phone. It has been so fun to keep track of the progress of the baby and figure out what stage he is at.
Its your first time! Try to enjoy it the best you can.

No point in being scared about the drinking etc at this stage. #1. It wont make a different. #2. Most development hasn't started yet. #3. Stressing about it will actually be more harmful than just saying "well, that happened and going forward I will make all the right choices.

I found that any nausea felt basically went away when I ate something. Maybe before you go to bed you can snack on something easy to the stomach. A lot of the articles etc that I was reading through my 1st trimester suggested salted crackers.

Check into the welding. I am sure you can find information on it, but I am sure you can get information from your teacher about the risks involved also. Don't just take his/her word for it though. There is SO MUCH information online about pregnancy and the health of your fetus. Do a little bit of research on any topic and you will find someone talking about it.

I just found out I am 7 weeks. I have "night" sickness. And I am throwing up constantly throughout the night. They said my baby is very healthy and moving along quite well. I'm just scared because I had drank alcohol before I found out and did some other stupid stuff as well. I am also in a welding class and not sure how that has affected my baby.
