I'm 26 weeks pregnant with my first child and have been having some sharp pains in my ribcage on the sides and also feeling and hearing rather loudly something (gas?) moving but up in my ribs on the sides. Is it possible this is gas? It feels very strange and I'm not having a lot of gas, this feeling just started today but it has happened three times and it's just so weird to feel it so high up...

it does indeed sound like gas. lying down also helps relieve it and i find a warm bath helps to. just stay in there and soak for a while. it relaxs your body which in turn helps the gas pass. now i noticed that someone had mentioned to stay away from gasey foods such as broccoli. i do not reccomend this as alot of the gasy foods are actually really good for you, especially broccoli. there is only 8 super foods in the world and broccoli happens to be number 3 with cabbage and brussells following up with 4 and 5 on that list. now as we all should know they all cause gas. but are also really good for healthy brain development and eye development as well

This may sound weird but, my baby kicked me a lot very high up under my ribcage for the last couple months of my pregnancy. Some were very sharp pains that caused me to catch my breath, and "walk it off". I also had very bad heartburn that caused some pains.
So, definitely go in for a checkup - you can never be too safe when it comes to pregnancy concerns - but maybe you are feeling the baby kicking?

When I had pain like that I went to the ER three times before they figured out I had gall stones! I don't remember hearing anything with it and I know with my first pregnancy I would have gas caught up in my stomach and it helped to get on all fours on the floor and stretch. hope that helps!

this could very well be gas pains. remember baby is pushing everying UP! to releive gas try laying on your knees and arms with butt in the air. gravity will help you out here (not really a sexy pose so you can feel free to do it alone lol) also stay away from gas filled foods like broccli and see it that helps. Gas pain is usually very sharp stabbing pains and may even cause cramping. its always best to call the doc but remember you know your body better then anyone else.

Good Luck
