My dogs behavior

Before I foud out that I am pregnant, I got two small dogs. The one kinda liked to be left a lone, now he is getting jealous and protective. He is my shadow. If I get up he is right by me. He even wants to be in the room when I take a shower! He also now gets upset if I am holding or petting my other dog. He was not like that before.

I also notice, he gets upset and starts barking if I hug my parents. Now he just started this thing were he has to keep licking my at least once a day. It's cute, if I don't stop him, its for about 5-10 mins.

So now what?

I had two dogs when I was pregnant with my son and shortly after he was born, we had to give away our boxer because she was being very aggressive with my nephew. There were warning signs that she was jealous and protective of my husband and could be aggressive, but we chose to ignore them as she had never been aggressive with us, only with other animals.

My advise to you is to get help with training now. The last thing you want is a jealous, protective animal in your house with a newborn. Even if she is not aggressive, it can be very stressful dealing with a new baby and a needy dog.

Check out your local SPCA or animal shelter, as many of them offer affordable training courses and can give you advise on how to deal with certain issues. Our local Human Society even offers a dogs and storks program, which is designed to help you get your dog ready for the arrival of your little one.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
