Pregnant at 40 weeks with 4.85 cms of amniotic fluid?!?

I had my doctors appt yesterday and they wanted to do an emergency induction, leave straight from the doctors office and to the hospital to get the baby out immediately. I refused the option because I want my baby to be born all natural(first baby) today is the second day over my due date, and other than the amniotic fluid being low, they said she was perfectly fine! But I'm scared about it getting to low (drinking water with crossed fingers!) and the umbilical cord wrapping around her neck. Should I go and get the induction? What should I do !!

I was sent from my doctors to the hospital but it wasnt right away it was 7pm and i was induced i didnt have a problem i think it should be good for you because if they say the baby is ready then she is ready dont keep her inside of you just because you want to you might harm your baby and not know it so i say call your doctor and let them take you in! :)

You have probably delivered by now... How are you? Typically the concern with too little amniotic fluid is that the fluid level is what gives your baby nourishment and with little to no fluid they are losing nourishment... Although most of it comes through the umbilical cord. The fluid also provides the baby with padding from bumps and every day movements that you make. I am not a fan of inductions, but if they feel it is the best option and you are comfortable with it thats up to you and your significant other... I wish you the best and hope all goes well for you. I believe you should do what you feel is best for you and your child and since you are past your due date, I would think the induction shouldn't be too bad...
