Question On C-sections

I'm not told I'm having a C-section or anything but it is a worry in my head. I have this umbilical hernia and its pretty big because of my first pregnancy and now this one.. He's made me really sick throughout the whole time. Well I've been reading up on the hernia and even tho my doctor hasn't said anything about it but I might have to have a C-section because they don't want it to get bigger. Well My first was of course vaginal and I just want to get some basic info about it. Not so worried about the scars or anything like that. And I'm not worried about never being able to push another one out normal (this is my last child I AM getting fixed..) But what's it like in general? I had one woman from my class tell me she kind freaked out because you can't feel yourself breathing.. even tho you were.... Whats it feel like? How long am I going to be down for?? Will I be able to do everything that's need for the baby? like picking him up and so on and so forth.. I'm kinda nervous about a C-section.. and Yea I could ask my doctor.. but I want some people who have experience it to tell me... Please and thank you :)

I've had two c-sections, first emergency, second was scheduled but he decided he wanted to come early :) The first one was kinda scary as I was young and didn't understand what was going on. I could feel myself breathing the whole time, as for the down time, I had little bit of a hard time walking for about a week and it really hurts to cough or sneeze, you can't lift anything BUT your baby for the first six weeks so make sure you have good help around. Hope this little bit of info will help you. Any other exact questions feel free to ask.
