Question on caffeine intake...

Ok so it is really hard for me to not drink so much caffeine while i am pregnant but i am somehow doing it. I used to drink it a lot when i wasn't pregnant but this is my first baby (i'm 24 weeks 5 days) and it scares me i could be doing something wrong. i drink maybe one can of soda that has about 34 mg of caffeine in it a day and people have said not to have more than 200. should i be stressing about this very much??

If you cant cut it out completely then maby try to choose better sources of caffiene - completly avoid thoes energy drinks like redbull - as they have a lot more nasty stuff than just caffiene, and you dont want to be having heaps of sugar or artificial sweetner, flavours etc either
best to worse would be
Green/white tea
Dark chocolate or strong Cocoa drink without much sugar
Black tea
Instant coffee
Fizzy drinks - coke
Energy drinks
Party pills

the doctor told me that a can or two a day is ok as long as thats not all your drinking..milk and water are very important so make sure to get alot of that

Wow. All my doctors have limited me to 300mg of caffeine. In any given day I have 2 cups of half caff coffee and maybe a can of diet soda. I drank coffee and soda thru out my other 2 pregnancies and there is absolutely nothing wrong with my kids. Just make sure that you are drinking plenty of water/juice/milk (I was told about 2 quarts of water/milk/juice) along with your caffeine intake so you don't get dehydrated.

I was told to keep the intake under 150 mg of caffeine. I get awfully close to that limit some days! I crave Starbucks iced Chai's all the time, so I let myself have one a week (a tall is only 75 mg of caffeine), but I also crave pepsi, so I have a can of that almost daily. I just have to make sure to also drink a lot of water, milk, and if I still crave a sweet drink, then I make some homemade lemonade.

I try to make myself deals. if I drink 2 20oz bottles of water then I let myself have a 12oz can of pop. After that I try to drink water and juice the rest of the day. Sometimes I'm bad an drink another 12oz can in the evening

Don't stress too much. Just try to keep your intake below 200. If you start having blood pressure issues then you will need to back down more on caffeine. I was addicted to Mt. Dew before I was pregnant with my first son, and it was ahrd tobreak it, but I did it cold turkey. I wasn't perfect though. Instead of most soda's, Iabsolutely loved Cranberry Splash Sierra Mist ... it had a fantastic flavor that made me forget about the caffeine. If I did drink caffeine, it was normally a 20 oz bottle of coke here and there and tried to drink as much to twice as much water as the soda, just to help flush it through my system.
