With my daughter I guess I didnt carry as low as I am now? With this pregnancy (we find out the gender on the 26th of this month) I have been having sitatic nerve pain as well as occasionally the tailbone area has been in pain. They are sharp pains, like somthing "caught" I have talked to my dr and she said that can happen, its nothing to be alarmed about and I have already had an ultrasound and the baby and I are doing fine. So, my question is, is anyone else going thru the same pains? If so, what are your little tricks and remedies for helping pain. Thanks so much!

Hi Jen, I'm having another girl and she is currently sitting right up under my ribs!!! Everyone is different though so could still be a boy. I carried my first daughter quite low and didn't have any of these pains. It all seems very odd to me as she is sitting so high that I'm having pains in the sciatic area. One of those wonderful pregnancy things like morning sickness that no one really knows what causes it and why!!!

I had that pain with all three of my pregnancies so I'm fully expecting it to start soon now that I'm pregnant again. It always started very early on for me (usually by 16ish weeks) and would get worse the further a long I was.
I've never heard of any way to relieve the pain, but I found it hurt most when I sat for too long, or stood for too long. So I found moving around helped a lot. If you find yourself sitting for over an hour, try getting up and moving around. Or if you've been up on your feet cleaning for a couple hours go sit or lay down for a while. I found that helped for me.

I feel like someone kicked me in the butt ! my tailbone not only hurts but pops like as in cracking your back pops . I am by no means new to the pregnancy ailments ,
I was told with baby #1 about 16 years ago to do pelvic tilts . Get on all 4's and tilt your pelvis back and forth in a rocking motion . Also making sure you do not stay in one position while sitting for very long . Get up , do some stretching or even start doing some yoga designed for pregnancy .

With my first daughter I didn't have any pain but this time I am as well. It tends to be worse the more I am on my feet without resting and I found that a heating pad does help out when I get home from work. It is also my right side. It was worse in the beginning and the doctor told me it may get better than worse again depending on the position of the baby and when she gets bigger.

Hello Jen Im now 37 wks but in my 35th wk i slept on my back still and when i first felt that pains i though i broke something.I found out its no remedy really but it helps to play with shifting your baby while your in pain be gentle but flex the area while shifting the baby it really helps. And be cautious because i also got my nerves in front kicked a few times.

I have been having the same pains, started out on my left hip. They started as cramps, now have turned into the pain that you described...Like something that needs to pop, or a pinched nerve. Now, the pain has grown into my right side and lower back, as well as my left side. I use a heating pad at night and it sometimes works...also a pillow between my legs, but im used to sleeping on my stomach so that never really stays put. I've been getting less sleep but i recommend tylonol...it helps me sleep.

I am having the same pain. Although I believe mine is because I just started a new job where I sit all day compared to my other one of standing. I know that if you change your activities it will make a difference. I was told to start swimming, that would help with the pain. Also to ice the area. The icing is probably for the inflammation from the muscle. I'm having both the sciatic(on the right side) and a muscle that's in a knot. This is my second pregnancy and am 24 weeks. With the first I carried high and had a boy, this time I'm carrying low and don't know what we're having, it's going to be a surprise.

Hi there, I am 17 weeks gone with my 3rd and I too am having the pains on the right side, like a pinched nerve that sometimes goes down into the thigh and can cross the base of my back a lil. Interesting that it is mostly on the right side hey?

I also have been having tailbone pain. i use a hot pad while i sleep, seems to calm it down a bit. although my pain only seems to happen from the evening to the late morning, maybe its my mattress or my hips getting bigger[first time mom], but my mother said apply heat. let me know if you find something that works better

I'm a first time mom and I've been having the pains since i was about a month pregnant(just didn't know what it was at the time). My pain is on the right side as well, I'm wondering if anyone has found out why this problem is predominately on the right side? It just seems a bit odd, my doctor said it is from the ligaments loosening up and I may have broke or sprained my tailnbone when I was younger. Anyone else get a sismilar explaination for it?

Thank you emma, I appreacite that. My husband has been massaging it as well (same with me, right side) The walking tho I have not tried, but sounds like a good idea, I will be sure to try that next. I am 21 weeks =-) Have you found out what you are having yet? I here that boys are carried lower, so I was guessing that is what I might be having...

Hi Jen, I am going through these pains as well. Most days and mostly on the right side. Currently 31 weeks pregnant with number two and didn't have these with number one. My midwife has told me there is nothing they can do and it is just the position the baby is in. The only way I have been able to relieve the pain slightly is by walking around or massaging the area which my husband has been helping me with!!! Hope this helps and it is normal and nothing to worry about.
