im pregnant with my first and I hear often from doctors its not safe for me to smoke while pregnant. Its harmful to the baby. But, I know several people that smoked during pregnancy and have perfectly normal babies. What should I do?

This is a really hard subject for me. I'm 16 weeks in and I can't keep ANYTHING down. I also get the WORST depression. It got to the point where I was driving home one day and I literally had to stop myself from jumping in front of cars in the highway because it was just too much. Smoking weed is the only moment where I'm happy. LOL! (As sad at this sounds, it's true). I only do a couple of puffs a night to sleep and eat a nice bedtime meal, but I don't know what else to do.

I smoked before I got pregnant and when I found out I made the choice to quit. It was hard yes but I feel there are only a few things you can do to make sure you give your baby the best chance in there and thats not drinking, not doing drugs and not smoking. Many women smoke while pregnant and their babies turn out fine. But still why risk the chance that something could happen when it could have been prevented? Usually the effects of the mother smoking don't show up till later in life when the child can develope asthma or other problems. I'm almost 35weeks along now and still when I'm stressed would love to light up a smoke, but I remind myself that I quit for a reason and that is for my baby to have a healthy start to life. I hope this helps you :)

Quit if you can. Minimize or cut back as much as possible if you can't. There a loads of reasons for you to quit, but the best is that baby you are pregnant with right now. It isn't easy and with the hormonal mood swings harder still, but worth it for your health, baby's health, and families health if you can kick it for good. Good luck.

I am due on tuesday although i have not been able to drop this bad habit i have cut back alot. I know its not glamorus to smoke while your pregnant but if you could cut back if you don't want to quit i would reccommend it. good luck!

i would quite honestly it isnt good for you or your baby clearly lol those babies may be born normal and regular looking and all that but they will grow up with a lower immune system also idk how much you smoke but if anything cut back to as close to as none as you can plus if you stop smoking all that money will help you get things for your child over all its alot better i have a friend who stoped smoking after she found out she was pregnant and she said she has been saving 35+ a week just from stoping add that up with 40 weeks in your pregnancy but there is so much smoking can do to harm your baby like not a fully developed lungs it obviously damages that in anyone but there is also low birth weight and more i hope you are able to stop and you chose to stop for the best of you and your family but no one can really make you
