so they have this new test at walgreens, cvs, and target. it is$35 and you pee in a cup and mix it with some chemicals or something like that! and it is suppost to be orange for a girl and green for a boy, they say you can tell as early as 10wks and it has to be your first morning urine. they say it is 90% accurate and nationwide test show 82% accurancy of moms that have tooken it. I was just curious if anyone has tooken it and if it actualy worked (was right)

Well it worked for you that doesnt necessariy mean it works all the time and 35 dollars can buy a pack of over a hundred pampers and for a previous poster it was completely wrong. So I guess you got to ask your self, do you want to possibly waste 35 dollars because you dont have patience? In these hard economic times, I would think people were a little bit more frugal with their money. But this is America, home of the why know tomorrow when you can pay extra and know today. But hey its your money, do what you want. I waited, even though I knew all about them. That filled my gas tank up for a week. I think that was money better spent.

I am in Australia and the test costs about 80 australian dollars from the chemists. I would like to try too just for fun but the money is tight, so not really able to afford atm. I am due in about 9 wks my last scan was at 19wks and the guy said it was a boy. I keep getting this funny feeling its a girl and I don't know why. A friend of mine has 5boys, 2 of which she was told were girls for the entire pregnancy but the day they were born oops they were boys. : )

i believe it tests for testosterone or whatever and the baby starts producing that as early as 10 weeks

I took intellegender at 20 weeks and it said I was having a girl. We later on went to two differnt ultrasounds and I am indeed having a girl, so it worked for me :) I also had a friend who tried it and it said she would have a boy and she is. But my other two friends who tried it, it both said girls for them and they were both having boys. So dont rely on it completly.

I looked into buying one until I read that if you had a miscarriage with in 3 months prior to the current pregnancy the results are not accurate.
It is possible that for those who had inaccurate results may be due to a pregnancy that didn't attach correctly and resulted in a normal cycle.

update: i took the test and it said i was having a girl. so we had a name picked out and was totally expecting a girl....well im having a boy so im not totally sure about the accuracy being true or i could have just got a dud. Either way i guess an ultrasound will tell if the baby is in the right position. I didnt want to wait and was so curious it liked to kill me but in all reality it has flew by and the news came alot quicker than I had expected!

I am a bit sceptical about it to be honest. Is this in the US? I am in uk so never heard of anything like this before. I always found out via scans and the last baby was confirmed to be a girl through 4d scanning, you can well tell what it is through 4D hehe. I think its just another way of the bigwigs to make money. I suppose if you had taken the test and found out to be the wrong result is their not anyway you could sue them for scandal or something lol. After all its your hard earned and then wasted money :)

well i have patience and i waited just fine with both my girls with waiting an extra month with my first, with my second i waited til ultrasound to, but i learned of this test and it sounds like a fun thang to do (by my choice) it may and maynot work, i may be just reading the color wrong, but it dont matter to me its just fun. hard economic time isnt affecting everyone. $35 is nothing for me, and my children are supported well with what they need and want. and my gas tank is always filled.

I took it when I was like 12 weeks..tha baby's sex organs may not b developed but they already have their own DNA an if they r gonna b a boy r a girl it is already determined by their chromosomes...sex organs tell u what they r hen u have ur ultrasound done...like I said I did mine at like 10 r 12 weeks an it showed up a boy..then at 19 weeks we had our ultrasound an sure enuff it had worked..I am now 34 weeks pregnant with a baby boy...so YES it works....

i think it's 50/50 shot so how can it be 90 or 82 accurate? but the sex is determined at conception so i guess it matters just how soon the hormones get released. i think i'm going to try it this time w/our third for fun knowing that i may be wasting $35.

to me it sounds a bit... like a gimmick.
if Ultrasounds can be wrong when viewing a baby at their most developed point with organs and genitals, with a 90-97% accuracy rating, then how can a cup w/chems pin-point exactly what you are having before things develop?

But if anything, it seems like just a fun thing to try if you have the money.
Though I wouldn't take the results too seriously.. it's a 50/50 chance remember? lol, it's not like the odds are *that* bad

I took it at 12 weeks and it said it's a girl, we found out 5 weeks later at the ultrasound appoinment that we are having a girl. It was right for me and everyone I know who took it. It's fun to do.

To me it's a waste of money...I bought it and it said Girl....I've had 2 ultrasounds now and were having a boy! So I wouldn't waste your money but it's up to you.

I took the test. my boyfriends mother and mamaw are so curious they bought me one. I took it and it said girl. It was very distinct orange color. I have all of the "signs" of a girl but I havent had my ultrasound where they can tell you what your having. I am going back to the OB the 27th. I will try to remember to tell you what im having and whether the test was right. I am 20weeks now and took the test at about 19weeks.

well the test has been on the news and dr. shows that play in the area. you can look up the site. just by gender telling test. there is another test that is a 100% accurate its a urine and blood that gets sent out to lab but its $200 for that one. one of my friends family members took the one they are saleing in stores and it was accurate with theirs, the test, ultrasound, and now the baby is born. the babys sex organs being developed or not wouldnt have any effect in the test. the babys sex is determined at conception. each baby sex releases their own hormones and different amounts. that is what they are useing with these test.

Never heard of such and I wouldn't trust it. There is no way it could tell you at 10wks seeing as to where the genital organs don't even start forming that soon. The only way to know is for your doctor to perform an ultrasound and sometimes even they can't tell. It's a hoax and I'm positive you'd only be wasting your money!!!!

Personally I think the test is a little fishy especially since none of the sex organs of the baby are developed at 10 weeks. Just wait another 10 weeks when your babies sex organs are fully developed. And besides, it's a 50 50 chance regardless..
