Just curious who is considering cord blood banking and where do you go for credible information about it?

i looked into it but was annoyed to find out that you don't get your own blood back if you need it. maybe it was just the company i checked with. you get whatever blood they have at that time.

If you can afford it go for it. I want to so bad, whats the worst that can happen? Your babies completely healthy forever and they throw it away? It really can come in handy and you never want to be sitting in a hospital chair cursing yourself for not doing it. Hope this helps.

It was something that my bf and I really looked into when I first found out I was pregnant. There are a lot of pros to doing the cord blood bank and lots of websites that give helpful information. The only down fall is the cost of it. Ive looked at a handful of the banks in most pregnancy magazines and to start along with the first year it is anywhere from 2000-5000 dollars which is insane. They do have payment plans but that can be costly as well as you end up paying more with interest. Than it is a yearly cost after that. I have come to the conclusion that we will not be doing the banking due to the money situation. I hope this helped somewhat. Also ask your doctor for information as they will have some really good articles and companies that they have dealt with for years.

We went w/ the most popular bank that is in all the magazines, etc. We paid a ton, and now pay 125 a year. We are pregnant again and not in a place financially to afford it but figured we have our daughters, so hopefully if we need it for either it's available. At this point I look at it like insurance. Can't always afford it but if you can, go for it. And ask your doctor for a recommendation too.

i really really want to i mean why not? but its SO freakin expensive. its like basically 3,000 upfront unless you work out a payment plan then theres a storage fee of like 200-300 dollars a year every year and they keep it up to 25 years or life, depending on how much moula you got, which for me isnt much. lol its such a great idea i just wish it was more feasible for me. right now its for the rich folks, lol.
