What sort of prenatal exercise classes should I take up and how do I find them?

I love my prenatal yoga classes!!!! I started them when I was 22 weeks and I currently almosts 40 weeks.. My body feels so relaxed after class. The streches and breathing exercises I did in yoga were the same as the ones I did in child birthing class... I also walk my dogs alot...

I would try looking for classes on craigslist in your area or the local newspaper...

Jessica: Most yoga studios offer prenatal classes, which is a great way to begin. If you're already enjoying a fitness program, most group exercise classes (cycle, yoga, weights) are safe if you modify and make sure not to do anything that can cause you to fall or become anaerobic (completely out of breath/working out without oxygyn). Make sure your instructor knows you're expecting prior to class. Otherwise, long walks with the dog and pilates or yoga DVDs are good, as well. I hope that more communities begin catering to moms who want to remain fit while pregnant...good for you!

I live in a small town so there aren't any prenatal classes so I got some DVD's. My favorite one is 10-Minute Solutions Prenatal Pilates. There are 4 sections 10 minutes each that you can mix and match depending on your mood, what hurts, what's flabby, or what you have time for. I worked out a lot before I was pregnant and this one still gets my heart rate going even though it is pretty low key. All the exercises are meant to build muscles you will need for delivery. Anyway, you don't need a class if you can't find one. I also walk a lot outside and still jog if I'm feeling up to it. I'm 22 weeks now.
