Why do I have to have my Ultrasounds in Albany?

Ok so on July 12th 2009 my son was born. He was diagnosed with Spinal Bifida, he had surgery & is fine now.

Now I am expecting my second child on Nov. 28, 2011. Now my obgyn tells me I have to have my ultrasound in Albany Medical & I will have to deliver there too. Why? Nothing is wrong with my expecting baby. So why can't I just have all my obgyn appointments and ultrasounds in Oneonta where I live? Why can't I deliver in the same hospital as my son was born? I guess I just don't understand there philosophy.

Perhaps they have the ideaology that if you had one previously complicated pregnancy/birth, your at higher risk of the second one being the same, just as a law of averages.
I dont know how the states work, or how they think. Thats the only thing I can think of though, unless its a workload issue :P

They want to make sure that you have the correct care bc you had a complication with your first child. They might of been able to handle it before, but that hospital my have better system there just in case. They can not always see spinal bifida in an ultra sound.
Have you asked them why they want you to go there, you do have a right to know and they should tell you. If they are not willing to tell you, you have a right to stay in that one hospital and refuse to go to the other. If there is not special reason for it they should be able to keep you at that hospital.
