Hi, Sheri. My kids look forward to family night every week. We take turns putting ideas in a jar and picking a new idea for each week. Everyone gets a chance to put their idea in the jar (with Mom & Dad's approval, of course) My kids have come up with some surprising ideas such as hide-n-seek, playground fun challenge (races), popcorn and family movie (at home), craft night, Photography night (each child has a digital camera and take photos of the family in action (we then watch the photos slide show on our computer) Freeze dance party, cookie making party, board game night (Uno, Life, dominoes, twister, etc. We have gone bowling, the movies, Dave & Busters (if you have one - it's a real treat!), a baseball game and the drive in movies, You can go all out or just simple stay at home time. Let the kids help come up with the ideas and the fun never stops. We have one idea is stupid and Everyone participates (It might be their idea next week!) Hope this helps. Have fun!

Having Family Night is a great idea! I'm so glad i found this topic b/c my mother has been doing it since i was a youngster and i pass the tradition to my kids. Every Friday is Family night! It call Family Nite Friday Nite!! My husband and i work and my children attend school so of course when Friday comes it a yay!

On cold/rainy days we order take out food and rent a movie, make popcorn and curl up in blankets in the family room and watch movies that everyone would enjoy! We also do board games, bake cookies/cakes, arts/crafts (Christmas is coming even better) Make silly home videos or even actually talking and laughing about each other day/week!

On beautiful nights we go to the Movies, Broadway Plays, Bowling, Ice skating, Parks, Dave & Busters, strolls, or even shopping!

Its one of the best things my mother has passed on to our family. Keeps the family together!!

Have Fun!!

Depending on the age of your children board games are always fun. My kids love to play UNO. It's a great chance for younger kids to do some matching. We like playing our Wii also

My kids love playing video games and I've found that we can actually make this a family activity. There are tons of games that my husband and I both enjoy while also entertaining the kids. I know a lot of families who do this as well and got the idea from a friend. It's also great to get both of my kids involved together. I've found the competitiveness to be healthy for their relationship.

Bowling is always fun, if you have the time and money to invest. We also like to do games too. Some suggestions are pictionary junior, Uno, Cranium Halo Balloo( good for younger kids), trouble, sorry, monopoly junior. We also enjoy playing games on the Wii, such as Wii fit, outdoors challenge, and any of the sports like bowling, tennis, baseball ect. Another thing that we LOVE to do maybe once every couple of months is going to stay at a hotel w a pool and going swimming, and hanging out watching movies. Good luck!
