You can download a CD of White noice - the static sound can soothe a baby who is colicky.  To see if the white noice will work for your child, turn on  a vaccuum cleaner and if he stops crying then the CD will work.  This was a life saver for our daughter!!  We googled white noise and downloaded one for about $3.00.

Gripe Water! My son was like a different baby...in fact, he fell asleep SO fast that I asked his pediatritian if they were really safe for such a new baby. She assured me that they were fine, and we still use them when he's teething or has gas...and he's almost 14 months.

Linsey, what country are you in? The reason I ask is because I am in the UK and was recommended drops called Colief by my health visitor. You put them in each of babies feeds (or mix with a little breast milk fed from a spoon if just breastfeeding, if I have remembered right). Until I had tried the drops, my baby would scream every single evening for about 2-3 hours! After just one day using the drops, she was a totally different baby! We used the drops every feed and weaned her of them at 4 months as directed.

If you can get them, definately give them a go.

Wow I know what you are going through. My daughter would scream for 5 1/2 months until we took her to a specialist. Milk allergy all along. We also put her on the alimentum and she was a new baby one day later. Good luck!

Dr. Harvey Karp's book The Happiest Baby on the Block totally saved our sanity when my daughter would scream for hours on end.  He uses what he calls the 5 S's to sooth babies.  It totally works!  I hear you can also get the DVD version, which would probably save time!

My son was colic for about 4 weeks. Someone told me to take him to a chiropracter. I did and within days, the colic was gone. I couldn't believe it. I was never one for the chiropracter, but I have definately change my opinion.

my 2nd child had that problem. We had to switch her formula. If your give your baby formula try switching it to Alimentum (Simulac). After we moved her to the new formula she was happier and she didnt have any problems. And like Tinah said bathes help and swaddling. Also try laying the baby in its carrier it might help with it not being flat on its back. I hope this all helps. Good Luck!!

Colic is a tough one. Cut all dairy out of your diet and spend lots of time outside is a good start. Make sure he's eating enough, and hold him while he sleeps. . . when is he crying? Evening? Try a bath. Strip both of you off, and set him on your lap. Babies love baths.
