Birthday Candle Alternative?

I've been to several 1 year old birthday parties lately, and they keep giving lit candles to the curious little children, who immediately try to grab the fire which could potentially be a bad situation. I was trying to come up with an alternative to a lit candle that would still provide something for my son to do at the end of the birthday song. I've seen the light-up candles that can be blown on, but he's not very good at blowing. I was thinking about putting a cookie on a stick that he could bite in place of blowing out the candle, but I wanted to see if anyone else had any ideas! Thanks!

No ideas sorry, but both of yours sound good...I will do a candle but blow it out for him before I put it in front of him...I think he will enjoy seeing it blown out!

I am making a fruit cake with icing. I have a little rubber figurine of a cartoon style girl, and her face is a photo frame. I'm puting Charlotte's face into the frame so it looks like her standing on her cake. I'll probably put little icing flowers at her feet.

We're having a BBQ in a park, so I'm not going to have a candle, too hard to keep lit. When she can have fun blowing them out, I'll introduce candles. I think Charlotte will enjoy the singing and the clapping.
