Getting my little girl to sleep

My little girl is 20 months old and has always slept very well. When we moved her to her toddler bed, about 5 months ago, she would not go to sleep unless I was in the room with her, and sometimes this requires sitting there for an hour or more. I also have a 9 week old who needs my attention at night and when I go to him, she follows me and refuses to go back to her bed. Some nights I get so frustrated, and I don't know what to do to get her to stay there. The only change in her bedtime routine is that she now gets her bath at night instead of in the morning.

mate, if you've got a 9 week old who needs your attention all the time, then I don't tink the toddler bed is the issue. Is anyone helping you at all? Do you get any one on one time with your 20 mth old at all, and I mean without the baby being around? Or is she in the background now? Toddlers need ALOT of attention, especially when there's competition.

This isn't an overnight fix, maybe you could schedule in some mummy and me time for your little one. No wonder she is following you. Poor little thing. Think of it from her view for a minute. She's not an adult, she's not going to say to herself, "oh, good, Mum is looking after that baby now, I can get back to writing my novel". She's had you to herself for her whole life.

i know it sounds cruel but the only thing that worked for me was putting jenna to bed and closing the door so she couldnt get out. the first night she cried for about 10mins but that was after 4hrs of trying to get her to sleep in her toddler bed for the first time. the second night she cried a little less and by the third day she was used to it. now she climbs in bed herself and its not at all a problem
