I'm curious as to what everyone feeds their baby. My daughter will be 1 on the 6th and I'm always worried she is not eating right. She has never been a big eater and now she doesn't like to be fed by anyone. She LOVES to feed herself but she has gotten to a point where she won't eat anything "gooey" like noodles or anything of that texture. I'm running out of things to feed her!

If I'm eating right, Charlotte is eating right. She has what ever I'm having, cut up into little bits. Unless it's veges, then it's not cut up so much, she holds onto them and bites bits off.

If you are worried about your kid's diet, take a look at your own. Are you eating well, and regularly?

We have Weetbix or porridge and wholemeal toast with cream cheese or avocado or peanut paste, and some fruit for breakfast
Then what ever I'm having, she has for rest of day, including snacks, so I have to look at what I put in my mouth and think Would I let Charlotte eat that? I make sure each meal at least has a protein and a carb and something that grew out of the ground. There are HEAPS of books in my library about child nutrition, so that's my reading material at the moment.

She is on a Breast feed after her morning nap, after her afternon nap and before bed. Though she doesn't demand those, I just give them to her to keep up her vitamins and minerals, and her immunity.
She drinks water out of a cup and a little bit of milk out of a sippy cup through the day as it's pretty hot here.
I'm not really concerned with the How Much, I only care about the What. If she's hungry she'll eat, and the meal is over when the child stops eating. Though I do give her yoghurt (pot-set, no added sugar) after each meal, just to make sure she really is full, because she loves it and I know she's full if she doesn't want that.

She's a little birdy when it comes to eating, never much at a time, so I decided to be more concerned with what she is eating rather than how much. It saves me and her alot of friction and stress, knowing that even though she hasn't eaten much, it has been nutritious.

I have a liquid vitamin/iron suppliment for Charlotte. She takes it straight from a dropper each morning. Because of her low weight and late development (I don't think she's late, she has just skipped crawling) my health nurse suggested it, and it can't hurt, as she can't handle meat very well yet and breast milk is quite low in iron.

Since starting using it, she has really got more energy, and has started walking around holding our pants. She just seems a bit more capable physically. I like to know that any nutritional shortcomings each day will be supplimented, just the same as my own multivitamin.

my son loves crunchy things, he is BIG on whole wheat toast with toppings like peanut butter, cream cheese and melted cheese...he too has a problem with noodles sometimes; I think that they are more difficult to hold so he gets frustrated...they also tend to slide out of his mouth!! I wouldn't worry about it too much, just keep trying different things and retry things she won't eat because she will just as quickly change her mind that she WILL eat them as when she WON'T. :) :) At this point they are still getting nutrients from breastmilk/formula, and even when they switch to milk, putting vitamin drops in it will ensure they are getting what they need. Like Bethany, I feed my son what I eat and nurse him. For example, today we ate plain yogurt with kiwi slices, blueberries, and cut up grapes and a slice of whole grain bread for brunch (we slept late), pears for snack, and then whole wheat spaghetti tossed with olive oil, lemon juice, parmesan cheese, tuna, parsley, and roasted tomatoes for dinner. We drink water with each meal. He nurses 4-5 times per day, but today I was really pushing the nursing because I am recovering from a really terrible stomach virus that has been going around and I do not want him to get it.

Eating this way I feel like he eats more because he sees that I am eating the same thing and we both eat better food, and it sets a good example for him.

fruit cups, baby granola bars... pieces of bannas!! cut up small peices of chicken and let her feed herself
