my baby's weight when he was born was 3.68 kgs. Now he only got 7.9kgs. It should be tripled on his 1st bday but i guess it would not be coz of his weight now. But he's indeed just like his dad before, having d same built of d body. Is it normal if he would not reach d tripled birth weight when he was born?

No worries, Nina.

My baby is no where near tripled her weight. She was born at 7lbs 4 oz, and is now at 13 months at 17 lbs. even. The docs were worried at first, but she is developing great, and is just tiny. I really think that if you just trust your instincts with your baby, you will find that you will know if something is wrong. Good luck and take care!

My little guy has slowed down too as he has gotten more active. He's 25 1/2 lbs now, but he was 9 lbs at birth so he hasn't tripled either. I wouldn't be worried if your doctor wasn't. As long as they are growing and thriving you should be good.

My now 5 year old wasn't 20 lbs at 1 either. She was 8 lbs 5 oz at birth and weighed 19 lbs 9 oz at 1. I remember that because she hated her car seat and I was hoping turning it would stop the fits in the car. Couldn't turn her car seat around. :)

Remember your wee one gets more active as they get older so they dont put weight on as fast as when they were younger. My wee man was in 75th percentile for everything and at his 12month check his weight is in the 50th percentile. As long as bubs is happy and healthy dont sweat it!!

I think your baby weight too low already. My son weight when he born is 3.45kg, but now he already over 11kg. Maybe my son are too heavy...his size like 18 to 24month kids.

Yes, that's still in the healthy weight range. Charlotte was 3.95kgs when she was born and was 8.04kgs on her 1st birthday (8 Feb) and now she's 8.16kgs.
She's breastfed, down to 3 feeds a day now, and eats a balanced diet, but never much at a time. She's smart and funny and never ever been sick so I'm not worried at all.

my baby didn't tripple her weight either well neither one of them as long as they are staying on their chart you should be fine and they are eating a healthy diet!

My daughter is only 16 pounds and was born at 7lbs. She will most likely not of tripled her weight by her birthday. Her doctor is not concerned, and she is completely healthy and eats all the time If you are concerned at all, make an appt. with his doctor.

That is roughly 17 lbs which seems small but not horrible for 11 months. All babies are different, I would base it mostly on his appetite and mood....does he seem unhealthy to you?? if he has been going to the same pediatrican for all visits, they will have a chart of his weight and height...they would be more unhappy if he dropped from the curve he was last on. My son was always on the small side and for a while did not gain when he was suppose to but all visits afterwards he followed his curve when he should have.
