I have heard that our bubs can start having normal (full cream) milk as of 1 year old. Is this correct? What do others think? My bub is bottle fed.

My ped put my son on whole milk around 10 months old. He was so hungry all the time and formula wasn't cutting it and the iron levels were good(that is another factor). I would ask your ped ans see that they recommend

The best time to give whole milk is after 12 months cause babies body take it better since they might have a reaction. Some babies wont like whole milk, since formula tend to be sweeter. If you baby wont take it when you start her, try to mix a little with her formula.

You have to check with your doctor on this one to be sure - but i was told it was okay to introduce the milk and make the switch at 11 months. My child transitioned well and was only on milk at 11.5 months. (well, milk and 2 nursing sessions) The ped also said though, if the child is smaller than mine that she recommends they stay on formula until 12 months. Is full cream milk the whole milk?? Thats what they are supposed to get next. Also, they aren't supposed to get more than 24oz a day, as it causes iron deficiency or something.. I don't know when that changes though.

My son Colten started to get milk when he was 10 months old. Start with Whole MIlk first it has the best vitamins for them. and then when he is 15 months i will switch him to 2% since that is what we drink in our house... that is what I am told is best but it is really up to you but i do know that at a year they are able to handle the milk and it is better for them over formula

I started giving Lana whole milk in a botlle when she was 11 months old. She always hated formula, so it was a smooth transition. Now that she is one, she uses a sippy cup of milk.

I read that cooking with milk is usually fine after about nine tot en months, but it's not good as their main milk for drinking until after the first year. Anna started whole milk the day after her birthday, and other than some nuggety poops, she's taken to it really well. We give her one or two bottles of formula per day, and usually one and a half bottles or sippy cups of milk. She also eats a lot of solid food each day, usually two square meals worth, broken up throughout the day. If she has a lot of dairy (cheese, yogurt) on any given day, I give her water instead of one of her milk bottles.

you should wait for a year, too much dairy can make an infant have internal issues, but anytime after 12months is safe. You should only use whole milk , the fat in it is better for brain growth.

I was told 12 months. My son turned one on the 21st of feb but a month before i started adding milk to his cereal so i guess it depends if you think your child is ready.

My daughter turned 1 on Feb 10th & began drinking straight whole milk, no more formula at 11 months. Doctors say that by 12 months they should be drinking whole milk & that they should be drinking stright from the sippy cup, no more bottle. My daughter no longer uses the bottle & drinks only whole milk & water...we chose not to give her juice because there is no need for it & it will only rott her teeth. Whole milk will also rott their teeth so I brush my daughter's teeth every night after she drinks milk, right before she goes to sleep as well as when she wakes up in the morning.

I started giving Braden whole milk at 11 1/2 months. He was EBF but I had a ton of formula samples so I started mixing like 1/4 milk and the rest formula (just to make sure he wasn't allergic or anything). Braden will be 1 on the 24th and he's on full milk now and loves it!!
