I would suggest a convertible car seat and be rear facing until a year. My little guy is 24 pounds at 6 1/2 months and we still have him rear facing but if a larger car seat, we ditched the infant carrier when he was 4 months old! He weighed too much!

A baby under one cannot withstand the trauma that could be caused in an accident facing forward. I have a large baby (both of mine were) and Id rather they bend their legs a little than break their neck in a collision, Just saying...its one year AND over 20 lbs..the seats they make that grow with your child are also rear facing.

My lil guy had the same probelm he is 6 1/2 months so i got a converible car seat that can be turned around when he hits a year but is bigger for his height. They can be use from birth. I wished i reashed it better the first time and i would of just got him one from the start instead of dishing out 100 or more for 2 carseats lol

my lil boy is 6 months and over 20 lbs. but the dr said he still needs to be rear facing. so we bought him a convertible car seat. he is still rear facing for now but then we can turn him around when he turns 1.

My little boy is nearly 7 months and we have got a front facing seat for him now. You can buy front facing seats that are suitable from birth or otherwise they go by weight. My lil man was 10lb 14oz when he was born!! chunk!! lol Pop to your local Halfords or Mothercare and they will be able to advise which is the most suitable seat for your car xxxxxx
