independent play-time

how often do you give your child time to play by themselves? my daughter is DEFINITELY a "put me down and let me play" kind of baby.. not a cuddle-bug at all. She's already crawling, sitting up and pulling up and she really seems happiest when I put her in her Pack N Play in the living room and throw a bunch of toys in it. She will play and then stand holding onto the side and try to cruise around inside or bounce up and down while holding the side. I feel like she'd stay in there contently forever!
It's a lot easier for me because she can still practice pulling up/standing/cruising but I don't have to worry about her hurting herself if she falls and I don't have to chase her all over the house, but I feel bad putting her in there sometimes.... like i'm caging her. We obviously still do other things and she doesn't play in there ALL day long, but I do think it's important for her to learn to entertain herself and do things independently... i just don't want to leave her in there for too long at one time. How long do you think is too long?

I only wish I had that problem my LO doesn't want me to put her down.. I put her in her bouncy seat just to give her some down time and of I dare move out of her sight she screams. we put up her "cage" and likes it when we're in it but not alone. enjoy it while u can. As long as she isn't in there for hours on end you're ok
