Hi all
I have been having an off and on sharp pain in my lower left pelvic area. I called dr last night and she thought it was complications of constipation, which is one of my worst pregnancy complaints these days. I haven't had any spotting or bleeding. I feel better this morning but when I cough or move suddenly I still am feeling this pain. Has anyone else had this happen. Believe it or not I cannot remember this with my first pregnancy. I have had two scans and both showed the baby in the right place and heartbeat was strong, so I am sure it's not an etopic pregnancy.

Does it get worse towards the end of the day? Does it hurt to roll over in bed? Does it make walking unbareable? Does it hurt if you press on your pelvic bone?
If you answer yes to most or all of these and it is VERY painful, ask your Midwife/ Doctor (whoever is caring for you in your pregnancy) to check you out for Symphasis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD). There is a group on here that gives loads of information if you want to know more about it.
If not, it's probably round ligament pains, almost every women gets this in pregnancy and it gets worse with each pregnancy.

It's called round ligament pain. It's from your uterus growing. It was the very first symptom I noticed.

I thought it was just the stretching/loosening/growing of the uterus and uterine area. I have it too. If I sneeze there is definitely a sharp pain, but everything looks good and healthy on the u/s. I hope it doesn't last too long.
Did your doc give you any advice or a softener? I'm taking the NatureMade prenatals, and it includes a very small dose of a softener. Whatever I took years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter definitely did not, and the constipation was a complaint of mine then too.

Hey there. Just wanted to post a reply.
I have been having a very similar pain. Same spot too. Lower left quadrant of my abdomen. I called my Dr about it because it's a very sharp pain, almost like someone is stabbing me there. I was told that if it got worse or persisted to call back. Well, I was laid up in bed that whole week. I called back that Thursday in tears. I was walking to the bathroom and I fell because of the pain. They urged me to go to the ER. While there they did a CBC and sonogram. Everything with the baby was great. My blood work came back fine except for one thing...my white blood cell count was high. Although this indicated infection we could not do a CT Scan on the area since I am pregnant. You would think though with WBC that high that I would have been given an antibiotic but no. I just simply discharged.
Fast forward to last Monday. I followed up with my OB. Went in and he was very upset that I was just discharged without anything. Since I had had the pain now for a week straight and where the pain was located along with my high WBC, it was assumed that I had an infection called Diverticulitis. I knew what it was because my Mom suffers from it every now and then. It's where little pockets in your larger intestine (the pockets are not supposed to be there and are called Diverticulosis) get clogged up and get infected. I was put on one of the two antibiotics used to often treat this. I took my last pill yesterday I am feeling pretty good today. My CBC came back showing that there's still a slight infection so I have to go back on the medication, but I can at least get out of bed now and get things done.
I have to watch what I eat. No nuts, seed or popcorn. I have to take my Metamucil everyday. Constipation is often a side effect of being pregnant and the Metamucil is a great idea to keep things flowing correctly anyway. What you may have going on may be just a blockage and just getting it out may help you. Or it could just simply be Round Ligament Pains. I get them quite bad too! But, what I've got is a medical issue I will have for the rest of my life...if that's what it truly ends up being. (I have to wait until I have the baby to get a CT Scan to know for sure.)
Hope you're able to find some relief and it turns out to be nothing too serious! I thought mine was just something in my head...glad that I listened to my Husband and got it checked out.
