My 14 month old daughter has recently taken to moving out of sight (round the side of the couch) to dirty her nappy.... we get the impression she's wanting a bit of privacy while she poops.

Is this a sign that she may be ready for potty trainining? Is anyone else's 14 month old doing this?

Thanks

My daughter started doing this at 11months so now shes about to turn 14months i've got her a potty already and put it in the bathroom where she seams to go, with a few toys next to it and although she cant take her nappy off herself yet she already sits on it to poo and enjoys the toys but if i go in there to help her with the nappy she gets upset with me and cries. Might start leaving the nappy off at the times she normally gose. It's never to early to potty train, people in other countrys toilet train from 6months and solid feed from 2months, although I would never do that to my child(or future children) it gose to show its never to soon. Good luck with what ever you choose to do.

My son does this too. He likes to go in to the laundry and lean on the washing machine and its always at the same time of day. I was telling my mum about it, and she said my brothers and I also did that. So she got a potty to put in the room we chose, and she would then take us at the time in to this room and sat us down, she said it helped train us all early.

My son has just started doing this and it's sooo cute! And funny! Bless him! I don't for a second imagine i'd ever be able to start potty training him yet though, he only understands the words "Go and get your ball" and "No" lol! :)

Mine daughter does this all the time... I can usually always tell when she is popping because she disappears and she's quiet.. usually she'll go off to play by herself because she's pretty independent.. But she usually goes off and poops in a different room, then comes back! I don't think it means potty training, they need to be able to communicate a lot more before you can get things started in that direction and all too. She just likes her privacy I guess... :)

Mine both did this, they went in the corner behind the bookcase. It was even called the pooping corner. For us it did not signal potty training, just them figuring out their body.

My daughter does the same will go to another room to do it, i dont think its a sign they are ready to potty train i think they just dont want everyone watching them poo.
