Went to the dr today for my weekly appoitment. I'm 35 weeks and 5 days. Everything was good but I felt extremely dehydrated today and I was measuring small for the first time. I had to have an ultrasound which indicated I have low fluid. So then I had to have a stress test. I'm suppose to drink lots of water and have an ultrasound on monday. I read up on low fluids during pregnancy and about 3% of women have low fluids during their pregnancy and it is more common at the end of pregnancy. It also said that most women are treated successfully by drinking lots of fluids or by getting IV fluids. I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen and if drinking a bunch of water helped? Im just nervous and hoping that someone else has been there and that water did help

my fluid was normal today! Yay! Had to go to the hospital tho for fetal monitoring bc she wasn't as "excited" as the nurses wanted at my dr office. But the nurses at the hospital said my baby had a Beautiful heart rate! So I'm excited and flattered! Lol...

Thanks. I'm hoping things are ok when I go into the ultrasound tomorrow. I had a tear at 38 weeks and 5 days. I already had a c-section sceduled in 2 days bc of my son being breech so they did an ultrasound to make sure he was still breech and did the c-section that day. I know what its like to be leaking bc of that, but who knows why I'm low this time. Im trying not to be worried either way. I'll be 36 weeks on tomorrow so if its still low at least I'll be close...

I had low fluids with my 3rd baby. Since I was past the 37 full term date, they induced labor.

If it isn't caught and taken care of, which you and your doctors are doing, then baby suffocates and dies in utero.

I had a small tear in my membrane, that kept on fusing back together and tearing again for about a week. So not only was I slowly leaking water that wasn't showing up on their strip test, but I was also getting towards the end of my pregnancy when fluid is already pretty sparse.

I hope everything goes well for you and baby. :)

Thanks! I've been trying really hard to keep hydrated but it just seems to put me in the bathroom more often. It doesn't really seem to be helping too much. I guess I'll have to wait until monday to see if it helped at all and if not see what they want to do from there. I'm really hoping that my drinking of excess water will help and we won't have to change anything. I'm ready to not be pregnant any more, but I want her to have as much time needed to grow and be healthy when she comes out!

I had this with my 1st son. They put me on the stress test machine and hooked up an IV. They decided to break my waters as I was due anyway. I had him later that night.

This time I have been drinking about 6 800ml bottles a day of water to stop from being dehydrated but I don't think its working.

I hope everything goes well for you.

Yea its low amniotic fluid. @Lorraine I read that also when you go over due it is likely to have low amniotic fluid. If you are close or over due they will either induce or emergency c-section depending on how low your fluids are. I will be at 36 weeks on Monday and I have a sceduled c-section for 39 weeks. I'm really hoping to make it those 3 weeks even tho I'm ready to get this baby out. I can and will make it through 3 more weeks.

@Erika the first thing I did was looked it up online on my phone while I waited for my food at culvers lol I was starving! After sitting in the drs office from 8:40 until 11:15! Bc I needed an ultrasound that wasn't sceduled. There is a term for having too little amniotic fluid, but I think you are only diagnosed with it if fluids don't work. It can cause preterm labor, something that I believe is collapsing or smashing of the cord during labor I believe, it can also cause limited growth of the baby which there is a term for it, but I can't remember. There was probably 2 more things but I was lucky to remember those. The ultrasound tech asked if I had been leaking. I don't believe I have but now I'm so worried that I realized that I've had a cold off and on for probably 6 weeks now, but the last week and a half evey time I sneeze or cough I have to sit on the toilet. Each time it isn't enough to be when it but will dampen a pair of underwear. But that can't.be it right!? Im just freaking myself out more I think.

Oh and everything else is fine. Blood pressure is good, hemoglobin is good, I only gained exactly one lb in 8 days even tho I eat oreo cookies every night before bed to help me sleep.

maybe they are off on my due date? Could be possible even if it is by a week or two. It is impossible for them to know exactly when you are due. I had an ultrasound at 6 weeks and so many days and measured 3 days small but I think it was bc I was a smoker prior to becoming pregnant. I quit as soon as I found out but I was in denial for about a week and a half bc it was VERY common for me to be late. The month before I was 2 weeks late and took I think 5 tests at the end bc it was a pretty long time for me to be late. but ever since I quit baby has been measuring big. I guess this time I should write my list of questions and actually take it!

Is it your amniotic fluid that is low? I have heard of this, but not sure how to replenish it. Id ask the doctors/nurses or do some research online. I do know as the pregnancy comes to the end fluid does start to go down. I know of one woman who had high blood pressure and low fluid at 37 weeks and had an emergency c-section. She and baby were fine though... Good luck to you!

i had that with my son but in the end i was 2 weeks over so was no need to wait any longer that's when i was induced, i am drinking plenty of fluid now to try and help my swollen ankles weird but they say drink more, but more could be going there to. but good side is it's not in my face so that's all you can do not much longer to go hang in there good luck.
