ok so now that my little girl (just turned 4 months on the 18th) is rolling over, we put her to bed in her crib and 3 times now she has woken up crying because her legs are sticking out of the slats in the crib and she is face down! I dont worry about her in that aspect because I know that she will lift her head and cry out but its just weird to me that she is able to move around so much and actually get BOTH her little legs stuck hanging out of the crib! should I get those crib bumper things? i heard that those are not really safe either, is this true??

I used bumper pads in the crib with both of my girls and haven't had a problem. As long as she can lift her head and move around i wouldn't think it to be too much of a concern

yes i would get the bumpers and i stoped laying mine on his belly at night because they sleep deeper at night then during the day i place him on his back or on his side.

I've wondered the same thing but am too paranoid about SIDS to have a bumper. I've thought about sleep sacs, but I worry now that my baby can roll over, he won't be able to roll back if needed with his legs in the sleep sac (b/c he's not as proficient with rolling tummy to back after getting on his tummy).

They sell breathable crib bumpers at babies r us, kmart, target online, and pottery barn kids. My daughter will not roll over in,her crib but she turns herself around in her crib. Im going to get a breathable one just to be safe. I'm not worried about it really but I would hate myself if anything did happen but I'm worried about her getting her legs stuck! I cant use the sleep sack with her bc she sticks her legs in the air and kicks!

it is too hot to wear even the lightest sleeping bag where i live...she sleeps in her diaper with a fan blowing on her...im thinking i will put the crib bumpers in and then still have the fan blowing on her to make sure she gets airflow...

have you tried a light weight sleepbag ? wont be able to get her legs through the bars then x plus ive always used cot bumpers the only risk ive heard of is they say the air should be able to circulate around the cot in warm weather but if you make sure the room is not to hot to start with i dont think theres a problem
