Will I ever get a flat stomach?

I'm new to this group so first here's a little about me. I'm married with an adorable little red haired boy who is 17 months and definitely keeps me on my toes. Before getting pregnant I was in ok shape, that is to say I wasn't physically fit or even that active but pretty skinny and with not much effort. Growing up I always wanted to be skinnier because I thought I was chubby but hated exercising and hated running even more and loved eating chocolate and desserts. During college I lived on my own and poor and since I was so active and didn't eat that much I got pretty skinny.
But during pregnancy I gained about 40 lbs and then afterwards lost the weight pretty quickly but kept the flab, especially around my stomach. I've just recently really got into working out and for the past 4 weeks I've been exercising 30-50 minutes a day, 6 days a week, plus counting calories, trying to eat healthier and drink plenty of water. I'm doing Hip Hop Abs and I love it which is perfect because I've never enjoyed working out but I really like working up a sweat and feeling the pain to rocking hip hop music. I'm just wondering how long before I will lose any flab. I can already tell that I'm gaining muscle mass which is great and my energy level is higher and emotionally I've been feeling amazing. Has anyone worked off their stomach flab and is it possible to get a really tight, flat stomach with abs?? I would love to be able to wear a bikini again.

I am a firm believer that after babies, you can have abs again!! Along with what everyone else is saying, just keep being consistant. Keep drinking water. Make sure you are getting enough fiber, so you are able to get rid of that extra waste. I have read in several different places that the best time to eat carbs, is in the morning or lunch time. That way you have plenty of time to burn them off throughout the day before they turn to fat and it helps to maintain your energy level throughout the day. Then for supper try to have some protein and veggies. I have been doing this and it has been helpful. I am also doing TurboFire, which is from the same company as Hip Hop abs. If you would be interested, search for Change 4 You and click 'like". It is showing my progress with my workouts (I am trying to lose the baby weight) and maybe it will help you along the way to. I will be posting tips on nutrition along the way also. Oh, and don't worry, you will wear a bikini again!! ;-)

Your friend,

Give it time. Once you build up enough muscle in your abdomen (everywhere in your body) it will start to burn the fat away. You can make your body look however you want it to, as long as your on a lean diet and excersising it will happen. Im in the same boat your are, was skinny all my life (though I never thought I was in the moment) up to my 3rd month of pregnancy, never once was a fitness type of person. I gained 45 lbs with my pregnancy and am now paying the consequences, still have 25 lbs to go to look the way I want. My husband is a marine so hes a physical fitness motivating king.. try getting into something like a fitness program close to home, the trainers are usually very encouraging. Or if thats not an option try a tougher workout like P90x, its intense but acheivable and you will feel so much stronger. Its made by the same company as Hip Hop Abs, or if its too boring try something else... I love the Yoga Booty Ballet, also by the same company (beachbody). Trust me your hard work will pay off in due time. Its just tough to get into a routine you've never had!

I would love to have a success story but while I have the exercising and have always been a water drinker it is food that gets me. I believe it is possible to have a flat or almost flat stomach BUT your eating has to be clean. I can't lose eating carbs from bread or pasta, etc. The only bread I eat is Ezekiel Bread. I believe with weightloss what you eat is the most important component. I so need to get back to eating clean.
