Hi and welcome! Please feel free to share your stories on this thread. Here is a synopsis of my story:

We planned a husband and wife unassisted childbirth for our first baby.

She was born at home after 3 days of hard labour/slow to progress labour.

She presented with an asynclitic and transverse occiput head, nuchal arm and shoulder dystocia.

She was 11lbs, 4oz (the OB incorrectly estimated her at 8.5lbs by ultrasound).

We are definitely planning to have another husband/wife birth when/if we have another baby. DH was a wonderful with labor support.

I woke up at 530 am when my water broke, my husband ran the tub and i spent my entire labour in there. I focused on my hands and counted through my contractions. As i felt her move into my hips my body started pushing small bits at a time. Her head came out in one push, her shoulders in the next, and then slipped out into my hands with the third push after only an hour and half of labour. She was so quiet, just absorbing her new surroundings as we sat together in the water waiting for the placenta to pass. My mom and husband cleaned her up and dried her off while i had a shower and got in some pajamas. I breastfed her with in an hour of birth and my oldest woke up to a new sister an hour later.

I had a midwife with my first. Our second we planned on a midwife, but after much hardship and distress, we were dropped as clients at 37 weeks. We felt at peace and on April 19th, 2008 after taking Castor Oil (I do NOT recommend) and 22 hours of painful labor, Israel was born weighing 8lbs 9oz. We think he was 39 weeks. We had a chiropractor come out to adjust him the next day. He had a little jaundice that we treated with sunlight. It went away after 2 weeks. He never lost weight and is still nursing. We will have our next in April 2010. We think it might be twins.

My birth story is up on my midwife's home page for my first. We did call her at 19 and a half hours into labor with our second and she advised us to burst the bag - the baby came out 2 1/2 hours after. I had been stuck at 9cm for 6 hours. I believe that my body was to tired to progress. Next time, if I am tired, I will sleep.

I did waterbirth with both labors.

My husband and I planned an unassisted birth for our first child. I woke up at 7am with contractions and she was born at 10:10am the same morning. We didn't even get time to fill the birth pool up! We are doing the same for our second child (due any day now) but I have asked my mum to attend also to be the run-around girl. Last time I wouldn't let my husband leave my side which made it very difficult for him to get towels and such.

We absolutely loved our first birthing experience and can't wait for our new arrival!!

We planned an unassisted birth for Alexandra, who was born after 7 hours of labour. It was an incredible experience. She was posterior, but turned, and I had hard back labour. She was born in the bath tub with dad standing by, weighing in at 6lbs.

We plan for our next children to be born at home, unassisted, also. :)
