What do you do when your child just won't go poo.

I have 33 month old twin girls and they've been potty training since May and my youngest is afraind to poo she holds it till she just can't anymore and she'll end up creating a buildup wich then makes her constipated. Iknow it not what she eats because both girls eat the exact same things. I know she's affraid to go cuz she thinks its gonna hurt. Unfortunately the worst part is that she clenches her but cheeks so hard to stop it from coming out that she gives her self an instant rash from holding it in so which makes the whole process even worse when it comes to wiping so I've resolved to rincing her off in the shower everytime she has on of those squished butt cheek poops and that's all I can't think of doing to not make it a power struggle. The odd thing about that is that once every two and a half weeks or so she'll poo normally with no fuss for a few days and intsantly and her twin will stop her self from going and after a few days they swich again. Is this normal the constant insta swich for everything even crying , they don't cry at the same time unless they've both hurt themselves. I'm out of thoughts and I want to know if other moms of twins expirience things like this???

both of my kids have gone through it and it's really common. It only has to hurt one good time before it puts the fear of God into them that pooping will hurt :) My Doctor put them on Miralax. Its not addicting and has no stimulants and it's perfectly safe. I started them each at 1 1/2 teaspoons and mix it in their morning water or milk. i did have to adjust my daughter down a half teaspoon because she was getting runny poop and my son up a half teaspoon because he was still getting constipated. Try soaking your daughter in 1/4 to 1/2 cup of baking soda mixed into the bath water for 20 minutes or so, its really good for rashes like that.

Try sitting her on the toilet at the same time everyday and don't let her get up until she goes poo everyday. Make sure to tell her if she doesn't go every day, that it will make is hurt really bad. I told my little girl that the Dr. will have to help her go if it hurts too bad and those two things together made a huge difference. But now, I don't let her not for more than 2 days. I make her sit if I know it has been at least 2 days.
