I had a csection scar ectopic in April 2013. I am now 19 weeks pregnant. The placenta is no where near my scar. The md says I will have to have another c section. But so far so good!

Hi ladies, I know this is an old thread but wanted some advice, I was diagnosed with a scar ectopic pregnancy last week (was 10 weeks) sac was embedded in my c section scar. I came into hospital two days later to have a d&c and a laparoscopy via keyhole to take a closer look and that's when they found the sac in my scar, they took it away and I bleed a lot so a ballon was inserted next to my womb to stop the bleeding. I ended up staying in hospital for 3 days. They didn't expect my procedure to be as invasive as it was, I have a follow up scan next week to check all is fine now. I just wanted to speak to other ladies with similar experiences as from what I've read this type of ectopic is fairly rare. Also was anyone told of a time frame when you can ttc again. I'm no where ready for that right now I just wanted to know for the future. Very scared of this happening again but they did say I will have a early scan next time to monitor me. Thanks for reading Xx

Hi Antoinette. Yes I delivered a beautiful baby girl in early January. Everyone was so excited both on the hospital and a home. Wishing you every success.

Hi Jessica. I also had a c-section ectopic pregnancy (gestational sac embedded in scar) just over 2 years ago and had a beautiful baby girl on 6th January 2014. The pregnancy was deemed to be high risk but everything went well. I delivered her by csection again at 38 weeks. Hope this post gives you hope. Enjoy your pregnancy ......dreams really can come true...sometimes there are rainbows after black clouds!!!!! As I am writing this post, I am holding my beautiful daughter in my arms. Wishing you the best of luck!!!

I have not had a scar ectopic, mine was tubal. My suggestion would be to call your dr office and request to be seen right away, as you would be considered high risk due to your ep. It is your right as a patient to be seen, and if your dr doesn't want you to come in, then I would suggest finding another OB. I pray that all is normal for you.

Hi Tina, I'm very sorry that you went through this, as i went through the same exact thing this last April. I have a 7 year old boy and a 3 year old girl. I always wanted at least 4 kids. so when the Dr. said that they suggested that i didn't get pregnant again and to tie my tubes, I was really bummed out. :-( They told me that I have a piece of the sac still attached to the scar and most likely it would stop the egg in that same exact location. they couldn't completely get it all the way out. My hubby doesn't want me to go through that again. but I really really want another child. I looked high and low for answers but from what the Dr. told me that it is becoming more and more common after cesareans. I'm not quite sure if I'm ready to give up. I've heard both bad and good.

Hi, I too have just recently diagnosed with a possible CSP but two three doctors I've seen so far have never seen one in person and are saying this is not a classical case but want me to consider termination for my safety. Anyone else have a pregnancy close to but not in their c-section scar who have gone on to have successful deliveries?

Hi,

Is anyone still checking this post? I've just found out my gestational sac is very close to my scar but the doctor doesn't think it's a csection ectopic but he just told he has no experience with them and has never seen one so he's not positive. I'm very concerned that this is what it is and have so many questions and no one to ask. Would any of you be willing to chat with me about the process of getting your diagnosis? He said there is a very thin about of muscle between the sac and my scar but I believe from my reading that can still possibly be ectopic. I'm so scared from the reading I've done.

I know this thread is old but I'm looking for follow up info. I experienced a csection scar ectopic in April 2013. I had a d&c for treatment. Hubby and I are currently TTC. I wanted to hear if any of you have gone onto have healthy pregnancys.
Thanks

Hi Lisa, glad it went ok. :) Out of curiosity when did u have your c-section? I never had any follow up scan after my d&c so have no idea about whether my scar is healed or not. I never thought to ask at the time about my scar. x

[deleted account]

Hi, I've had my scan and my scar is nearly healed not allowed to try till after this cycle :-( bit gutted but I guess its not that long to wait. So all is well. Please let me know how your scan goes. Take care Lisa x

[deleted account]

The doctor that I am seeing and did my procedure is an expert in scar ectopic and is mentioned or written on nearly all the papers you have read on the internet as I have read all of them two. He told me that the chance of scar ectopic happening again is only 5% where tubal ectopic is much more common and carries a higher reoccurance rate than scar. He wants to do a follow up scan to check for any adhesions or any faults with my scar that may have caused this to happen he did say tho that he probably wouldn't find anything but if he did he would fix it. He also said I would need a early scan at around six weeks in all future pregnancies to check its in the right place. But scar ectopic is just a chance thing and doesnt have any particular cause. I'll update U tomorrow night if I'm not home to late. Talk soon x

Thanks Lisa. Please do let me know how you get on and I will do the same. Sounds like we had the same procedure, however I was told I did not need a follow-up even though I had read (in medical online articles - they only information I could find) that this was procedure. I was surprised to get pregnant so quickly. Take care. x

[deleted account]

Hi Katie, firstly congratulations on your pregnancy its great your pregnant again so quickly and I'm sure you'll have a happy and healthy pregnancy this time. I am going back down to London tomorrow for my post op check where I'll be having a scan to check any reason why it could have happened, im nervous as i really want the all clear and am desperate to try again. I'll be ovulating Thurs or Friday this week so fingers crossed we get the green light. I'll let U know. Keep me posted on your progress and take care. Lisa x

Hi
I have been trying to find more information on c section ectopic pregnancy since I found out in December I had one. I had a D&C the Friday before Christmas. I am now 4 weeks pregnant and kn

[deleted account]

Hi, I didn't have those injections I had an evacuation of pregnancy guided by ultrasound so im not sure if it was a d&c or a d&e all I know is they put me to sleep and when I woke I was in alot of pain for a few days, I bled for 10 days and I think I ovulated last week. I was told to only shower not have a bath and no sex for 5 weeks!!!! We were totally deverstated as baby had a heartbeat I cried all the way to theatre.I had three miscarriages last year until they found I had lupus anticoagulant so I needed blood thinners so it was awful to final get a heartbeat and for it to be in the wrong place. I didn't even know that could happen. I live in England, are U in the states? I think this is a American site but when I seen ur post I just had to reply, like U say its so rare and its great to be in touch with someone who has been through it. I'd love to stay in touch and hear all about your scan next week and I'll let you know about mine. The doctor did say we could try after 8 weeks but he wanted to rescan me when not pregnant to check for any adhesions or anything that could have caused it to happen. I just want the all clear. Any way keep well and stay in touch Lisa x

It is so nice to hear from someone that has been through it. Its amazing how rare a scar ectopic actually is!! Did they sort your ectopic with methotrexate? If so thy say you should wait 3months if you had 1dose or 6months if you had 2 doses. I think if you start taking folic acid straight when your hcg levels go down to 5 then it could happen sooner! Thank you for your post, it does make me a little relieved to hear its only a 5 percent chance, i feel like iv had such bad luck lately i hope im not in the 5 percent, am trying to think positive though. Hope your next scan goes well. Im ure it will be sorted. Let me know how it goes? And i will let you know how my ultrasound goes next week!x

[deleted account]

Hi, I have recently recovered from one. Its very rare I haven't been able to find anyone who has had one that I could talk to about it. They ended my pregnancy on the 4th Jan and I have to have a follow up scan on 18th Feb which I'm hoping they will say its ok for me to try again. My doctor at the time said there is a 5% chance of it happening again which is very small but I would need to have a early scan in all future pregnancies to check its in the uterus. Can I ask how long did U have to wait to try again ? Congratulations on your pregnancy I am sure it will be fine this time but you must get an early ultrasound. I can totally relate to how scared you are as I am worried also about it happening again but its only a 5% chance and my doctor is an expert in these pregnancies. Hope this helps and I would love to hear back from you x
