Finger foods!

My daughter is 10 months old and she loves her finger foods almost soo much that she won't eat off a spoon anymore! Does any one have any good creative ideas for finger foods?

Well, stay away from the peanut butter...she's not old enough to be introduced to it just yet. I would suggest cheerios, cooked carrots, peas, toast with mashed avocado and cut into tiny bites, you can cut a string cheese into really small bites (it would be easier to gum then hard block cheese), halved or quartered blueberries (not an "allergen" berry). You could also make some whole wheat, oatmeal or quinoa flake cereal for her a bit thick (so it's easy for her to just dip her spoon into without too much scooping) and give her a spoon and let her have at it! Definitely encourage the self feeding. Letting her have a spoon will help her develop her hand/eye coordination and motor skills.

You can make your own cereal bar bites. I recommend using a whole grain cereal, a little peanut butter, oatmeal, and any fruit she might like. My daughter has also developed a love of finger food, but for her it's the messier the better. She loves eating rice and mac n cheese with her hands, not with a fork or a spoon. Anything with spaghetti sauce? Forget it! She'll make the biggest mess, mostly cuz she loves squinching it between her fingers.

You can cut up sandwiches, or sandwich meats with cheese and crackers, pretzels, maybe some chips, and try steamed veggies. My daughter loves them! Good luck!
