what is everyones opinion...and suggestions? Saturday is my 4 year old daughters first pageant....no talent, just the opening routine, introduction, modeling, then evening gown.....I am so nervous..I dont know how she is going to do, if she is going to get scared and back out at the last minute....I am having a good friend who is close to my daughter be her backstage helper...I want to watch and I think she will do better if I was not backstage....any suggestions on how to prepare her?

Just tell her the truth, if she doesn't win, it's because she's not pretty enough.

Hate to be brutal but let's face it, that's all it is. If it wasn't, then Miss Teen South Carolina wouldn't have won Miss Teen South Carolina.

Even though i despise pageants, Bonnie is right. Rehearsing at home would be the best way to prepare her. But if she is rehearsing, and wants to stop practicing, let her. The more pressure you put on her, the more difficult it will be for her to stand up on stage in front of people.

Well, I'm not a fan of pageants, so my opinion is biased. But I would say that if she gets scared and backs out at the last minute...let her. Why would you want to force her into doing something she's scared to do, if there's no real benefit to it?

I am not forcing her to do anything....I am not that kind of person. I let my girls try anything they want so they know what they like and what they dont. She has been in tball, swim lessons, soccer, and gymnastics. she has dressup stuff at home that we play with all the time, but she saw a pageant last year and has been asking me to be in one....

If she does not want to do it, don't make her. Not a fan of pageants. If this is something SHE wants to truly do, she will. But if you are just wanting to play dress up with her, you can buy cheap costumes at the store and have a blast.

A rehearsal at home would probably be good for her. It will help her feel comfortable and get use to the idea of what she will be doing.

I hate those shows! I cant understand how a mom could push kids to do that......and to paste all that makeup on them and wax their eyebrows...CRAZY!!! I cannot and will not get mad at her for backing out.....but Im just trying to get ideas on how to better prepare her for it....its a small town local pageant and they arent even doing dress rehersals.....maybe I should set up a dress rehersal with her at home...

Yeah I agree with Krista not to force her. If it's something she wants to do, that's fine, but I see so many moms on those shows that push their daughters and get angry with them if they don't do well.

I completely agree..I am letting her do this pageant cause she asked me to do it....if she does back out, then so be it...its her choice and in my mind she will always be my little princess...lol...
