I'm sorry I'm not knocking the movie at all, I was just thinking of those who aren't this fortunate. Those whose parents died while they were young and didn't have anyone to help & guide them in this mean ass world and they flounder in poverty & squalor.

I see the awesomeness of this video and but it only reminds me of that woman at our church - it took 3 years to raise enough money for her specialty wheelchair and ours was a WEALTHY church with a huge congregation. Part of it was the politics of the church though.

I saw that a little while ago and it's beautiful. I'm sure that he received some sort of sponsorship for what he was doing, the equipment is pricey, but the story is a heart warmer.

I agree Tara..its not sad.:-)..its wonderful and yes i can say a lot of money would of gone on his special care equipment..dont forget this father had heart disease and still wanted to fulfill his sons wishes.Whether or not this equipment was paid from his own pocket or he had help to get it doesnt take away from this mans dedication, all out of love for his child. He had the power to take up his sons wish and he fulfilled it.

I wonder why when the movie is paused it is titled "lovely sad true story" I don't see the sadness in this at all.
I see joy, dedication, love, fulfillment and happiness along with strength determination and hard work.
I don't know how many 10's of thousands of dollars it took for the equipment or who paid for it, I imagine funds were raised or they are independently wealthy, and Sharon, never say never. We never really know what we would do for our children if we had the means.

Love conquers all with 10's of thousands of dollars. Its a very touching movie.

But do you have any idea how much those specialty wheelchairs & bikes cost? The transportation? The special van?

I can tell you. My church tried to raise the funds to help a church member replace their wheel chair& van as her disease progressed.

The most basic models were seriously in the $10's of thousands of dollars. Being handicapped does mean everyone takes care of you.

That is an awesome man with a precious child but I couldn't have done what he did. If I took that kind of time off from my job I'd be fired. What my other kids? They'd want to go too and what would happen to their sports& extra curricular activities as I spent every dime we had on that one child? I hope that man is well off. But they do have a beautiful story.
