A Healthy Theory

This isn't a thread about breast feeding exactly lol that's been done to death.

What I want to focus on is a lil bit of the common sense factor behind the concept of

"Breast feeding = Being healthier".

Follow this train of thought;

When you're breast feeding, whatever you eat basically goes into your breast milk. So you want to eat healthy so that your baby gets all the nutrients possible!

The healthier you eat, the more good stuff your body gets, the more energy you have. -- The more energy you have, the more inclined you are to use that energy. -- The more inclined you are to use that energy, the more active you are. -- The more active you are, the better you feel. -- The better you feel, the more focus you have on being healthy, to continue to have the energy to be active so that you feel good.

So... I think everyone should pretend that they are breast feeding, even if they aren't! And follow my common sense logical theory to a healthier, more active, more energetic, better feeling life ! :D

Watch this!!! You're gonna love my nuts !!
Slap em up, chop em down, sprinkle em on top and GO FOR A WALK !
Stick to it, suck it up, pretend like that babe's on the tit!

I wrote a jingle..

no but seriously, I was watching some thing on the news where they were talking about the benefits of breast feeding and how there's comparisons between families with infants and families with older children and generally families that have a newborn or a toddler or a pregnant lady in the house hold eat healthier, exercise more and have routines that include healthier living standards.

Pregnant and breast feeding women are more inclined to eat properly and exercise more regularly because of the benefits over all. More energy and being in shape helps to make those late night wake up calls, early morning routines and over all lack fo sleep more tolerable. So if the women are more inclined to be healthy, then the men in the family are also 'pulled into' the healthier kick too.

aahhh, if only i could think like this. i didn't breastfeed, i tried with my first, but couldn't get the hang of it. i don't know how i would've ate had i breastfed, i ate pretty much the same stuff while pregnant, just ALOT more of it. if i didn't eat loads of food i felt i was going to puke. so i feel that's probably what i would've done while breastfeeding. pretty pathetic, huh?

Hmmm...love the thought!

It seems that people who are health conscience tend to breastfeed. Or attempt it anyway.

I could barely eat when I was pregnant cause everything made me puke, I would eat what I could, everything I possibly could that was healthy but it always came back up lol

My general idea was that most women who are breast feeding want to make sure they are as healthy as possible while breast feeding because essentially a healthy momma helps keep a healthy bub!

Women who are gonna eat crappy are gonna eat crappy regardless - pregnant or breast feeding. I've also known women who use being pregnant as an excuse to eat crap too. Most women I know who breastfed though... they've had a more 'be healthy' state of mind and THAT is what I am more focusing on :D

That is a good theory. And I like Kylie's take on it too. I ate SO healthfully while I was pregnant (mind you, I had gestational diabetes, so I didn't have much choice in the matter.) If I'd only been sensible to carry on eating that way AFTER the baby was born, I'd look quite fetching now!

that's a good idea Jo but i just wanted to point out ( not trying to put a negative spin on your theory) but you can like crap or eat whatever you want and breastfeed and you baby will still get all the nutrients it needs to grow and be healthy.. breast milk is pretty amazing like that..the mum will just feel like crap though:)
what you eat while your pregnant goes directly to you growing baby so maybe it should be pretend you are pregnant and take care of yourself like you were growing a new person. oh and eating for two is a myth!! I've always been my healthiest/fittest while pregnant anyway...
