Well, for medical reasons it is needed. Some things should be tested on animals first to determine if they'll kill people. If companies went straight to testing on humans and ended up killing people just to save cute little animals it would not end well.

A necessary evil for medical advances. But for your lipstick or eyeliner? No, I don't agree with that.

I'm not okay with it.
I understand the necessity for medications, but I wish that we could find something else to do instead. It really is the lesser of two evils in that circumstance, IMO.
If they ever find an alternative, I will be against it then.

Human beings are animals. I find it awful that because we are conscious, intelligent beings, we find ourselves to be more important than any other animal. Shouldn't us being more self aware, make us more kind to other beings, rather than more cruel? Bears, horses, dogs, cats, mice, bugs, they are all living breathing beings just like us.
We test human products on them, keep them captive in facilities for our amusement, make them do tricks, kill them. Some how we have forgotten that they are conscious, too.

what about bugs? i saw someone ranting on a review of a toothpaste because it used cochineal which is a bug that makes things reddish orange. the person considered that to be animal testing even though the company claimed to not test on them.
i personally think that person is crazy-it's a bug.

Yeah, sometimes you have to choose the lesser of two evils. I'm not against their use in medicine.

Medical testing I don't disagree with, those animals are saving lives. But I won't buy any cosmetic or hygiene product (shampoo etc) unless the package states the company doesn't test on animals.

I think if we didn't use animals for drug testing we'd have a lot more people dead from disease that we now consider preventable. But cosmetics - I don't care for that. If we aren't brave enough to test our own lipstick on ourselves than we should just not wear it. It's not like that shit is actually necessary for life.

I hate that animals are tested for cosmetics. You figure by now, they should know the ingredients that cause problems, and what combinations.
