“If Only I Had Teeth Down There!”

Posted by Aunt B · 220 Comments

Call it provocative, call it medieval, whatever you call it aside from self-defense classes, self-imposed curfews and bodyguards it has to be one of the most progressive devices created to help prevent the rape of women. Invented by South African doctor Dr. Sonnet Ehlers after treating a rape victim who said, “If only I had teeth down there,” the female condom dubbed “Rapex” is being readied for distribution after 20 years of research.

“According to Dr. Ehlers “As soon as the man puts his penis in the woman’s vagina the condom catches it. The “teeth” of the condom then penetrates his skin and causes severe pain. The man will have to go to a hospital to have the condom removed,” she said. It will also collect the rapist’s DNA.”

30,000 of these condoms are being distributed in South African in various cities where the World Cup games are being played. South Africa has one of highest incidences of rape in the world.

While some think it increases a woman’s feeling of vulnerability, one could argue that women walk in the world and shape their lives around knowing their vulnerabilities. Others argue that the device is medieval, “Yes, my device may be a medieval,” Dr. Ehlers says, “but it’s for a medieval deed that has been around for decades,” she said. “I believe something’s got to be done … and this will make some men rethink before they assault a woman.”

While I don’t believe one thing will prevent rape, I do believe in having an arsenal from which to choose. What do you think?

Someone hand me my mace, my brass knuckles and my Rapex condom. It’s eleven at night and we need a loaf of bread!

So is this a step back or a step forward for women in countries where their bodies are treated as fair game for most men to use as they choose without much penalty?
Yes I do.
But I also fear that more women will not only be raped but injured after as a result of shredding the guy's cock with "teeth" that he has to have removed at a hospital.
But yes I think more guys might think before raping, vaginally anyways.

I'm thinking that these things aren't that noticeable to begin with. And I'm guessing that when a man is in the midst of raping a woman that he's not really LOOKING at her vagina. He's probably paying more attention to her hands and feet which could be used as weapons. So removing it before raping a woman is probably not that feasible since they would end up kicked in the head while trying to remove it.

Here's the thing though - If the man has to go to the hospital to get it removed and he killed the woman then HER DNA would certainly be on the condom and if he had this contraption on his wiener than he just turned himself in. He couldn't say he didn't do it, ya know? So something like that could potentially work.

Edit - I doubt that any man would try to rip the thing off themselves and that would redoubtably render them in the hospital anyways.

the first thing i thought was your last sentence ..."vaginally anyway"...how much do you want to bet that if this becomes commonplace, anal rape skyrockets...which can be equally, if not more, physically and emotionally damaging.

Id rather live and not have my rapist get caught, than die and have my killer condom help catch him.

Then again I have never been raped and cant imagine what it would be like to experience that and have the rapist be out there. Yet in a countries like that, the likelihood of them being caught im sure are slim anyways.

Id rather be alive me thinks. For my kids and family, instead of dead , but hey i guess the hospital having my killers DNA is a consolation prize amirite ?

Hmmm. I'm wondering... how do you remove it? Wouldn't rapist just get familar with the contraption and remove it before raping the woman?

How many men do you think are serial rapists?!?!?
Not half as many by far as those who offend once and don't re-offend, who act on impulse whilst inebriated, who make a one time mistake.
That doesn't make it right, but they still ought to be nailed for it. You can trust, that a convicted man will be less likely to repeat offend, and a BITTEN man even less so.

If it's a choice between vaginal and anal rape, i know, as a rape victim, that despite the pain, the conception of a child is much more emotionally damaging to a woman than the possibility of an internal injury. Both result in irreperable damage, there is no "Better option" neither is a "Lesser of two evils"
Look at the figures and facts surrounding the rape of CHILDREN in the 3rd world. 3 year olds were given underwear to deter the "easy access" to rapists. 8 and 9 year olds falling pregnant because some uneducated desperate ignorant disgusting paedophile of a man decided to have a quick fix.
If this was something handed out to women who really are at a real risk, i agree with it. I think as an option to women in the western world and major cities across the globe, there isn't a problem. It's always optional after all.
There is no two ways about it.
Men should be castrated for this violation, anything that increases the chances of a conviction is a start. I'd prefer to be smacked around the face a few times in his painful retaliation than let him get away with it and do it to more women.

Reminds me of that movie "Teeth"...I say good on em on making a condom with teeth. It's just another safety device like Mace, a whistle, taser...etc. I wish as women we had teeth already down there...and if any mofo were gonna rape me, I'll put a condom in my punani and my bumhole and rip their manhood to pieces! I hate rapists plus this condom will give them a 2nd thought about doing the crime.

I think it's an interesting innovation. However my only concern would be that in say africa where rape is at it's worst and say women were using these tooth lined condoms. That men would at some point become very aware that women may have these and would start raping anally instead to protect themselves. And I tell you what if I had a choice between vaginally and anally I would rather vaginally as awful as that may seem. I just fear that these women may in turn wind up being violated worse. However I still think it's a step in the right direction.

I think it will increase the incidents of anal rape! a more painful alternative for some mens sick minds! It a scary thought! I hate walking through the city at night and the thoughts of the diseases and horrible outcomes after going through something like that is horrifying.
I would love to have something like that to help protect me, but I fear that men will just start to change their tactics.

do you think something like that could make a man bleed. Could be a good way to spread disease.

once word spreads in villages and cities in the areas where they are being distributed that these are being used, men will adapt their MO , and start carrying rope to tie up the women so they can remove them, or just sodomize them instead.

I think these things are great in theory, but I dont see them being effective in the long run.

its only gonna take a few hooked penises and every rapist is gonna know what is what.

I think they'd be in so much pain you'd have time to get away. or they will start raping women anally. Or it will be a case of men still win and women are evil and hurt our dicks. It's a cruel world.

[deleted account]

My partner is looking like he will cry! Lol. I say, so far, it is SUPER EFFECTIVE! :D But yes I would be a little worried that if it doesn't quite K-O the man immediately, you would have to assume that he would be pretty peeved off.

I agree that sodomy would increase. Holy shit, that would suck so bad. Why don't we all just buy a gun and keep it next to the tampons in our purse?!

Now THAT'S a good idea :)

I also imagine men removing these from women in a brutal and cruel way before raping them , an increase in sodomy, and I can see these being turned on women somehow, being forced to insert fingers and then having it ripped of them or something like that.

I really dont imagine them being used in any specific area of a long period of time.

I could also see them doing more harm then good.

Some would say that they would rather die than to live in fear every moment of everyday because they were assaulted by someone who is still out there.

I couldn't say and I hope I can never speak from experience.

Plus - if the woman used it against her husband then she could stand to face some serious maiming charges because both of the peoples DNA would be there...

As wonderful as it sounds, I do wonder if rape/homicides will go up. Most of the time rape is about control (not sex). What's going to happen when you have a man with a violent streak and something clamps down on his penis. It's prlly gonna hurt the victim more than it hurts him. He's going to be so enraged by pain and loss of control that he's more likely to kill the woman. I wouldn't own one.

I love this comment underneath the article
"so, if you have this “in” and the man gets “bitten”, won’t he be just a bit mad? won’t he be more likely to actually KILL you? This device “catches DNA” but the man with it on who is potentially homicidally angry will then leave and take the DNA with him right? Do you want to walk around “always prepared” to be raped? Why not a “guillotine condom” that will just chop the dang thing off? The potential bleeding to death that occurs might actually make him run away to save his own life rather than taking the time to kill the woman…??? women don’t need to “be prepared” to be raped, men need to stop raping! period!"

Guillotine condom, now that would be effective, certainly would solve the problem of worrying about repeat offenders.

I am a little torn, I would worry about the men retaliating in a violent way, but then again hopefully it would be too painful and prevent this.

Imagine how many women would use it as revenge on their cheating, lying and abusive partners! Now there's some law suits.

I like the idea of it but what is to stop a man using threats / violence against a woman and making her remove it before he rapes her?

Also...I wonder how (un)comfortable that thing is to wear? Is it a rigid plastic or kind of soft and malleable? And is it like wearing a tampon where you can only have it in for a certain amount of time before the chances of infection is increased? So many questions...

I think it's a great idea too.

But we all know that one of those ass hole rapists is going to sue the woman for the "pain and suffering" she caused him.

I also worry that it will be used to teach cheating men a lesson....or maybe I'm just the only one that vindictive :)

I do think it's a good idea...but I'm also afraid that some attackers would become enraged and seriously hurt or kill the woman. Then again, if I had a barbed condom stuck to my dick I think I'd be too busy screaming and crying in pain to punch any one. :P

There are definitely places out there where I would seriously consider wearing this thing. If men are going to use rape as an act of war, they should have it turned back on them in the most horrific way possible.

OMG! I love it, what a great tool! I do agree that it may aggravate the rapest and cause problems but so would fighting back by any means, this way your guaranteed a hit in his soar spot. And a way to be caught. I too would be scared of the condom turning on me some how too. I feel so bad that women have to even defend themselves like this, and not just because it might happen but because its a daily possibility.

I can't help but say kudos to Dr. Sonnet Ehlers. Maybe the thought alone will be enough of detterent?

They ought to have a device that cuts it right off then he'll be in too much pain to hurt her anymore, theres definately something wrong in these countries
