On a Visit to the U.S., a Nigerian Witch-Hunter Explains Herself

“if a child under the age of 2 screams in the night, cries and is always feverish with deteriorating health, he or she is a servant of Satan.”

I'm pretty sure that is called teething?

What an idiot. Speaking as a witch, I find her insulting and stupid. :P

yeah I read the statement in the article and I couldn't believe it. I thought it a bit ridiculous. Then back to reality, they have safe haven for the kids of the parents that believe what she is saying. Sad.

This actually made me laugh. Like, it's NOT funny because it's real. But just reading that statement is hilarious.

You cant educate some people she is obviously a nutcase. Saw a documentary about this a while back and the witch docters were murdering the kids.

i just came off the road from a 5 hour trip to the in-laws and now sitting here with a cup of malibu rum and i'm pretty sure since i have only had a sip that i am reading this correctly..though i wish i weren't...i feel sad for her also because this is how she was raised as well. she is a product of that as well as the children who are suffering...It's sad for the children and everyone all around...

I think it has something to do with, not only her, but the families not being educated about babies?
very off the wall example: If you were told that outside your country there are monsters. You grew up everyday being told that, if you leave you will be eaten by a monster... with no media or outside influence you are lead to believe if you leave your country you may be eaten by a Monster.

I think this kind of evil transcends cultural differences and becomes a human rights issue. The kind of things they do to those kids shouldn't happen to anyone no matter what country you live in.

I call myself a demon child only because I was never baptized. Ha! I also called my niece a demon child because she acted like one when she was younger... sometimes she still does and she's going on 11. lol.

I don't like to judge other cultures, but I don't know whether this woman has a mental illness or if this is culturally based. Maybe it's a bit of both?

Funny, I call my daughter a demon child every time a new tooth appears ! Perhaps I was onto something there. Clearly this women doesn't have children of her own or she would know better than to say something so silly !

I wonder if she had her own kids whether she would ever say they were demon-posessed.

Those homes are not run by freaks like that lady and focus more on rehabilitating the child.

I saw a documentary on this exact thing and it made me cry. The way they were ostracizing these poor kids and making them believe that there was something terribly wrong with them.
I read that in some of those areas they are starting to make homes for the kids that get ostracized because of being 'demon possessed' which is making a difference. But still horribly sad. I think she is a 'servant of satan'.

Oh wow. My first inclination is to call her a wack job.

Unfortunately we have to be culturally relativistic and not so ethnocentric. OOh, just read what they are doing to these children. What do you do? They really believe this. Ugh these debates kill me. I have a minor in anthropology and there are some horrific things cultures engage in ie: chinese foot binding, female castration........

Do we liberate them?

haha oh man, people like this drive me up the f*cking wall. I actually do believe in alot of different spiritual things...that many would label me witch for...i'm ok with that. This is a women who is dangerous to these children and how murders and harm come to others in the name of religion, cause there will always be crazy ass people who support her! Anyone ever seen Stephen Kings "The Mist" - makes me think of the insane crazy women in that movie, convinces a bunch of scared people that she knows gods will and should sacrafice this human life so "god" will spare them......absolutely nutbar.
