As many of you know I just found out I was pregnant with #4. However, I took the first test day before my period was due and it instantly turned positive and I mean instantly, Took another today just to make sure and again it was so instantaneous that I am starting to worry that it could be twins, as my levels have to be super high to have results so strongly so very early.

I know go to the OB but they don't see you until you are 8 wks so I have a ways to go before that happens. What are your experiences with this anyone with twins??

Congrats to you and your growing family!

You don't need to see your OB to get an HcG blood test! See your primary doctor to confirm your pregnancy with a blood test so they can get the beta number count. Then ask for a SECOND quantitative blood test 48 hours later. The doctor can compare the HcG count from the 1st to the 2nd blood test easily. Numbers should double. In the instance of twins, numbers could triple. If yo udon't have a primary, then the OB's nurse practioner should be able to sign off on the blood tests. Good luck for a happy & healthy pregnany!

Congrats to you and your family. I tested 6 days before my missed period and got a strong positive result so not sure about the twins or not. I hope you have a wonderful pregnancy! :)

I took mine before I started my period too and got the same results you did. I only had a single birth, so it's possible.....but again the same thing, I mean exactly the same thing happened to me.

Congrats!!!

I wonder if you told them that you think it's possible that you might be having twins if they will allow you to come in early. I know my sister didn't find out she was having twins until she was about 5 or 6 months along. But the midwife I went to remembered my sister and when I was about 7 weeks she sent me to the hospital to have an ultrasound done. If your family has a history of twins they might do the same for you.

With both this one and my first, I tested 2 days before my period was due, because I was already feeling symptoms, and had immediate, strong positives. I'm not sure about this pregnancy yet as I won't have an ultrasound until next week, but my first wasn't twins. Maybe your levels just rise quickly? Either way, congratulations!

This happened to me with my first pregnancy and I think it was twins because I believe I miscarried one at 8 weeks. Could just be earlier implantation though.

I have taken some pretty early tests that have turned instantly as well, they also showed very clear positives. With my last pregnancy they took a while to turn and were very faint. For me at least, I blame it on different brands.

Mine have always shown instantly and I've never been pregnant with twins.

And congrats!

My two tests read "positive" instantly too, but it was because I was 19 weeks pregnant and didn't know it. Maybe you're further along than you think?

Congrats Sherri! Yah!!
I don't have experience with twins but with my son I didn't even finish peeing on the darn thing and hadn't even pulled it out of the toilet before I got I super strong plus. I think I was still in mid stream when I yelled to my husband "Yup, we're pregnant!!!"
With my daughter, it was faint and I was further along with her when we tested.

I have low hormones, so I didn't test positive until 7-8 weeks...so I'm not helpful.

I just want to say congrats :)

My first pregnancy (25 years ago) was back when the timer had to run 10 minutes--it took 2 and was a single birth.
Congrats!

that happened to me with all of my pregnancies, i wouldn't freak out yet!! congrats sherri!

I didn't test w/ the girls til I was 6 weeks and it was a test AT the doctor's, so I couldn't tell you anything about that.

I will say that w/ my other pregnancies (2 miscarriages and my son) I tested at 4 weeks (well, 5.5 w/ the first miscarriage and baby was already gone) and had pretty fast positive results.

I don't see any reason not to just wait til 8 weeks though. Except, of course, to ease your mind. I didn't find out my first pregnancy was twins until 10 weeks.

Congrats on the pregnancy!!

Naw, not necessarily. mine did the same thing with both pregnancies....infact with my first I think I took 10+, different brands...and they all turned really fast.

BTW- one of my FB friends DID experience twins for pregnancy #4. It brought on babies 4 & 5! She has FIVE kids 6 and under- 6, 4, 2, & twin newborns!
