I know this is not the right place but i trust you all.

I have just got back from the doctors . I have been told because i have started periods again , which os bad. I have to have an internal scan. What is it, does it hurt.

My doctors not great with info, never told me my under active tyhroid could lead to early menopause and needing b12 for the rest of my life.

I feel if i can arm myself with info i will cope better.

Many thanks for you time

Mother -- I had my thyroid removed - you wouldn't even notice the scar. A good surgeon will place it in a natural crease in your neck so it won't be visible.

Sally -- I'm not sure what scan you are having? Internal ultrasound? Or laproscopic to view your ovaries? I've had them both and neither is a big deal. If they are thinking cancer, have they checked your CA 125 levels?

Awwww.....I'm sorry to hear that. That is a tremendous weight loss. Try not to upset yourself too much. It could be something as simple as your meds need to be adjusted. Have you ever heard of a product called Essiac?? It has good success with Cancer. Also, do you juice?? A combination of carrot and apple juice have worked wonders for cancer as well. Pretty simple additions to your routine that could help if it ends up being bad. You could also look up Max Gerson. He is famous for curing cancer naturally. I'm not saying you have to follow his regime but until you know it won't hurt to add it into your own routine. Rene Caisse is also a name to research. she is the creator of Essiac.

Hey Sally. My thyroid shut down in 2005. Scary stuff. They could barely keep me awake. Mine was not caught in time, mostly because I'm famous for writing stuff as stress...overworked and ignoring the warning signs. Under active thyroid patients can go into menopause early. IT runs all of our hormones so it could just be a hormonal imbalance that brought your cycle back. When I ended up hospitalized. My cycle had stopped. It remained non-existent for almost 2 years. I gained 80 pounds. I lost a lot of my hair. I lost my eyelashes...eyebrows and my thumb nails. My skin went so dry it would crack and bleed. Now 7 years later, I've still not lost the weight. I still have no eyebrows. My skin is still severely dry. My hair came back but very thin. I had to give up my eye contacts because of dryness. My cycle came back but with a VENGEANCE!!!! The thyroid runs EVERYTHING, so please don't let it go. The internal scope is uncomfortable but not awful. IT is like a probe with a camera on the end so they can take a good look at your girl parts. I struggle everyday but the meds definitely help. I am reading a book right now that has a chapter on the endocrine system and how wheat effects it. I've been trying for a year to cut wheat and gluten out but that stuff is in everything!!

Under active thyroid runs in my family and my next option is removal. I'm so vain that I don't want a scar across my neck....I'm trying EVERYTHING under the sun to try and find something that works. It would be nice to lose the weight I put on when it shut down. :(

if i need to i will im still working on the thought ,that all the shit thats been pump in to my body is kicking bak. One scary thing is that ovary cancer shows the same as U T. I didn't know getting my periods was a sign. Here if you do post menopause its treated as cancer unless other wise proved.

I have had tyroid problems all my life and have to say the medication greatly helped me to lead a normal life but i am finding out now that it can lead to secondry problems. My early menopause was not because of tablets it was because of the thyroid slowing down. I have never had a scan like this and i understand it could save my life, i just want to know what to expect.

I would research this more if I were you. So many suddenly are diagnosed with thyroid issues that I feel that a lot of them are misdiagnosed. Look it up on internet and check worthy sites...
