Someone posted this on FB and I hadn't heard this story before - I think it's several months old now, but still interesting.

Actually, the link between DCA and killing most cancers was discovered in 2007.

"The University of Alberta's DCA Research Team is set to launch clinical trials on humans in the spring of 2007 pending government approval. Knowing that thousands of cancer patients die weekly while waiting for a cure, Dr. Michelakis and his team are working at accelerated speed, condensing research that usually takes years into months. Fundraisers at the University of Alberta are determined to raise the money to allow this next phase of research to begin. Once Health Canada grants formal approval, the University of Alberta's Research Team will begin testing DCA on patients living with cancer. Results with regards to the safety and efficacy of treatment should be known late this year."

Apparently the UofAlberta faculty of Medicine and Denistry is suppose to be providing updates but they don't talk about anything past 2007. this is the official website on DCA.

They are accepting public donations.

Edit to Add: This site keeps updates on the DCA clinical trails and other updates concerning DCA:

Sounds to me like they're pushing this one hard through independent funding. It is encouraging to know that even if the big pharmaceutical companies don't want to *waste* funding on it, that there are plenty of doctors, researchers and others who see past monetary value and actually give a shit about humanity.

Big Pharm is nothing more than a bunch of money hungry assholes with no conscience.

This is similar to what pot does to cancer cells, it can trigger the cells to commit suicide.
Big Pharma sucks wang.
Hopefully someone with some money and a penchant for real ethical medical science will step up and pay for more studies.

I agree with Wanda. No matter how many studies are done, there is probably already a cure for cancer, but the medical and pharmaceutical companies make too much money for this to be "cured". So, I don't think we will ever see the end of this disease.

I don't think they will ever be able to cure cancer. We have too many toxins in our environment. It's in our food, in our clothes, in our homes, in our air, in our water, you just avoid them. Our bodies can not process it and I don't think we'll be able to evolve fast enough to keep up. I do beleive marijuana can be used to treat the effects from cancer (reversing tumour growth etc.) but I don't think moving beyond treating cancer will ever happen.

I do think we have more progress in treatments than we are given access to for monetary gain. Big Cancer moves a TON of cash around. I wonder what percentage of the US GDP is tied to cancer?

Some researchers have already claimed to have found cures for cancer, most notably is Dr. Royal Raymond Rife. But there was also Dr.Virginia Livingston, Dr. Johana Budwig, Dr. Lorainne Day and there are others. But they've al lbeen brushed aside by big business.

It's not just the big pharmacuetical/insurance companies that make money off cancer. What about all the companies that sell pink items 'for cancer awareness'? I watched a consumer watchdog show once and it was talking about products labeled with 'a portion of the procedes will go to cancer awareness'. The simple fact that this slogan was printed on their product could be considered cancer awareness and thus they could keep the procedes and not donate any money. But how many people buy these items thinking the donations will go to cancer research? Also, think about all the hospitals that are dedicated to cancer research. there's one not far from me. Or hospitals that have raised vast sums of money to build new cancer wards. My local hospital just built a new cancer ward. All these places need doctors, nurses, etc. And think of all the people who work in cancer research. If there was a cure for cancer there would be a lot of people without a job and a lot of companies would lose money. It's sad but there's just too much money to be made from cancer.

I've been reading some really disturbing studies hidden from the public for years lately about Cancer and it's treatment and I have to say I was angry , REALLY angry .

It goes far deeper than a cure ..... it goes as far as pushing metastasis in the guise of treatments for further sales of drugs .

The study ( I will try and find it ) was produced by the worlds leading cancer researcher at the time who has been made to all but dissapear , he never set out to prove anything for or against pharma companies simply looking for a cure when he made these alarming discoveries .
Im not into conspiracies as such but the entire article rang alarm bells , it described just how my fathers ( and other close relatives ) cancer progressed along with the treatments and showed significant differances with patients who chose other methods .

I want to look further into it , it is interesting and
I do believe that pharma companies are some of the most powerful and influencial entities on this planet with money as their main concern .

Ok, just to play devil's advocate here, Pharmaceutical companies have done a lot to help people. If you think about all the time, effort and money that goes into research and development of a drug, testing/trialing it and then releasing it on the market, of course it's expensive. The process takes YEARS, sometimes decades. Really think about how many people's quality of life has improved and lives that have been prolonged by the things that big Pharm has done. I mean, I understand that they want to make money and it's not some great altruistic endeavor, but it's not all bad either, IMO.

No surprise to me,

Im sure they found the cure YEARS ago (as well as a cure for other ailments), but if they told it or made it public knowledge they would loose Billions and Billions, that is also why I hesitate when people ask for money donating to “The cause”, when I know the money is going to greedy ass people…..

My mother has been battling cancer for almost 10 years..and it makes my blood boil to know there is a CURE for her and all that have Cancer, and it makes my blood boil to know that Cancer is caused by man made things >:-{

Exactly...not just for cancer but ummm diabetes. These meds and supplies cost thousands of dollars. Do you really believe that these pharma companies and insurance companies would allow this...I don't think so.
Trust me as a type 1 diabetic I would love nothing more than to have a cure, because it sucks. I however am not holding my breatn for a cure anytime soon.

My aunt, a former nurse, always said they'll never allow a cure for cancer because people make too much money off it.
