celebrity/public figure's kids... how much is too much?

I was reading (and watching) this article and it got me thinking. When a parent is in the public eye (celebrities, ploticians, etc.) are their kids off limits? Is there a line between "yes" and "no" in the answer? Does the age(s) of the child(ren) come into play at all?

Why do people always insinuate that MJ was weird and abusive for protecting his kids by letting them wear masks and veils and stuff, yet condemn others for having their kid in the public eye? I think people just have too many opinions.

I just wish they'd leave the kids alone. What have the kids done to deserve their tiny little lives to be disrupted by the paps? I figure it's pretty scary (although I'm sure they get used to it after awhile) to be followed by strange guys with flashing lights. And what good do we get out of it... OMG guys, did you hear about Suri and Kingston?! Yeah, who gives a flying crap. Sure they're cute, but let them be kids.

On the other hand, their parents knew what they were getting their kids into, and if they didn't want their kids exposed to that, at least not in the insane degree it is now, they'd move to a quieter location and stay out of the public eye. But they don't. I think they like the attention but don't realize how it affects the kids.
