Check out the new layout

[deleted account] ( 34 moms have responded )

There is a new layout coming.... It's being tested in 5 communities. The only one that I'm a part of is Breastfeeding Moms, but you can find the others from there.

I think we should all join all 5 communities and spread the word on how awful the layout is. Maybe the community 'management' team would care enough to NOT change it.

Yeah, I'm pms'y w/ a massive headache. I seriously can NOT stand the layout and if it changes.... I'll either have to quit COM or go blind and crazy (craziER at least).

MOST HELPFUL POSTS

How are they open to constructive criticism? They have not gotten one single positive post in the breastfeeding community, and yet they are still going with it. Various people have pointed out that this is a community for support and that said support is not forthcoming with the new layout. I think that's enough reason to stop the trial and at least move it to another community, one that people join for fun and not because they need support. They are really pissing me off at the moment. And Tara: I think a half-blind person would have serious problems. What's with the grey writing?! I am not opposed to change even if it takes some getting used to, but there is not even one feature here that I would consider an improvement by any stretch of the imagination.

For me, the added loading delays are very frustrating. It's taking at minimum twice as long to load each page. The new style threads in the breastfeeding community are taking at least 3 times longer. A few times I've left the room, done a chore, and come back to find it still trying to load. I just assume it's crashing.

I hope the women needing the help with breastfeeding are finding some way to get it. I have noticed more requests for this kind of assistance on the main page this week.

I must agree with Daniela, I've got no problems with them testing it. But find a place to do it where women aren't really needing the assistance. People ask questions in there that can be hard to find answers for elsewhere. Particularly new and overwhelmed moms.

I know they have to have trials and get feedback, Dana, I just agree with those who said it's the wrong community entirely to have such a trial. This is having a real impact on women who out there in the real world are struggling with real problems and are looking for support.

Actually Daniela, we don't know what they're going with. They're testing it out in 5 communities to see what people's thoughts are, they're receiving them and hopefully they'll take it all into consideration.

The point of the thread in the breastfeeding community is to get feedback. If they were just plowing through it, it'd be done in each community by now.

Half-blind, Tara? That's my problem w/ it... I CAN'T see it good. If I really were half-blind I wouldn't be able to see it at all.....

I don't thinks it's a big deal. It's different and would take a bit to get used to, but I wouldn't say I hate it.

Hate it, hate it, hate it!
And I am half blind too, so the colour scheme is NOT helpful.
And why remove the 'helpful', etc buttons????

Grrr.

I'm guessing it hasn't happened to any of the communities I belong to yet because I have not noticed anything hahaha.

Well, they're open to constructive criticism so let's hope they do away with the really messed up parts (though I do not know one good part...) before they launch it across the board.

Sorry if this offends anyone, but that new layout makes me feel like I'm being treated like a half blind, illiterate and ignorant person. It's like it was designed with senior citizens with bad eyes, only I can't imagine it helping any. Wow, that's bad. I hope it doesn't get any reviews.

...she is probably not even a 'she'. I don't know I noticed a lot of spam lately. One woman emailed one of them and found out it was some scam to get money. The 'woman' wanted her to send money so she could get her father's inheiritance of 4.5 million. 'She' claimed she was in a refuge camp. But yeah, i've been reporting them when I see 'em. The accounts usually get deactivated right away.

Nikki, the resurrection of the old threads was due to a spammer.
*I think she was hitting on me* ;)

I threw out my response for Herna, too. They need to quit pickin' at shit and just fix what they've already fucked up. >:|

It's too difficult to follow and negates the whole purpose of the community. I'm talking Breastfeeding Mums, where people often come for information and support, not a debate!

[deleted account]

I'm not sure of all of them, Tonya, but if you go to Breastfeeding Moms and go into the post about the new layout.... the right side of the screen shows the duplicates of the same post.,,, in the other communities.

Is it just me, or is everyone else seeing old posts popping up on the current news feed? In this community. Almost all of the current posts are gone and replaced with old ones.

Come on Carol there's nothing wrong with pink!

I agree I hate the new layout. I am particularly pissed about the whole question/voting post crap. I just don't understand why they cannot take constructive criticism from their regular users and stop changing what isn't broken. Then they might have time to fix all the things that are broken. It's stupid.

I may be biased though, I still haven't forgiven them for changing everything to pink and orange.

I can't quite get over how user unfriendly it is. Unless they change & improve it drastically, launching it will kill many communities completely. I can't imagine what it would do to this one.
